Who deserves the crown for Tumblr’s favorite extant Hyena species?
Spotted hyena (Crocuta crocuta)
Brown hyena (Parahyaena brunnea)
Striped hyena (Hyaena hyaena)
Aardwolf (Proteles cristatus)
Aardwolf (Proteles cristata), family Hyaenidae, found in Southern Africa

Don't mind hyena. Yeen is just seeking out termites.
Gnolls. They inhabit the Lands of Bone and Ashes — a scorched crimson wasteland at the heart of the continent. The only people ruled by a strict matriarchy.
Hyenas are already feliform carnivoran mammals, but here they are literally cursed cats — former lions, leopards, tigers, and so on. I did warn you about the strange evolution of creatures in Kaarum — it only gets wilder from here.
