I'm a high schooler who was recently recruited for my school's mock trial, and the teacher in charge has said that he plans for me to be pretrial. Do you (or any of your followers) have any tips for how I can prepare? The other pretrial is 2 years ahead of me with experience and I've heard that it's a hard job in general so I'm already nervous!
I’ve only ever done college mock trial, so I’m not sure what the differences are between high school and college pretrial. Our pretrial is relatively simple and straight forward, and your teacher should be giving you proper guidance as far as what you should be saying and doing.
For college mock, pretrial usually just consists of introducing your teammates to the judges, tendering a few documents to the bench, pointing a few things out for the judges’ reference, asking about the presiding judge’s preference about movement about the well, and things like that.
Your teammates and your teacher should help you by letting you know what you should be saying – that I can’t help you with, unfortunately, because I don’t know what needs to be covered in your pretrial.
But what I can help you with are a few basic things.
1) Don’t be nervous! You were chosen for this, make it your opportunity to shine. 2) Take a deep breath before you stand up to do pretrial (and do remember to stand up – always, always, always stand when addressing the Court). 3) If you’re allowed to, have a typed up list of the things you need to cover during pretrial, and have it laying on the table in front of you. (Use a font size larger than 12 pt so that you can read it easily while standing, so that if you blank on something, you can just glance down and see it.) A teammate should help you out by subtly pointing to each step with a pen, and subtly pointing out anything you accidentally skip so that you can remember to bring it up before you sit back down. 4) Speak slowly, calmly, and loudly. Smile at the judge when you stand up. You have a golden opportunity with pretrial. You get to create the judge’s first impression of your team. Don’t think of this as putting pressure on you! But rather, think of it as an opportunity. You don’t have to rely on anyone else to create a good first impression, you get to do it yourself.
Pretrial should be easy, stress free, and a great way to get your nerves out before the trial begins. Personally, I loved getting to do pretrial because it relaxed me right away.
High school mockers: any tips you’d add?(Feel free to send asks with tips, or submit tips – or send them straight over to aasexual)
(PS, I hope you don’t mind me publishing this, but I thought that pretrial tips could be useful for everyone, and I also hope that some of my followers who do high school mock will be able to help you out, too.)

I've started being more open to my sexuality at school, but I can't seem to make people understand. My friend actually told me, "Oh, so you're one of those freaks." I'm also having the lesbian problem as well. It's frustrating, and I don't really know what to do or say. Do you guys have any suggestions? Please and thank you!
When it comes to your friends, appeal to them for empathy. “How would you feel if I said that to you? That really hurt me.” If you can’t get them to even acknowledge that they’re hurting you, then there’s absolutely no point in trying to explain further - they’re bad friends, and you need to get away from them.
Other than that, education. Do your own research, in places like this. Find ways to counter the specific things they’re saying, then just lay it out for them.

Agender, because I've never really given a damn about my gender.
8. Which is a worse scenario, being chased by a swarm of peaceful pigeons, or looking down into a lake filled with very hungry crocodiles in complete safety, but knowing if you fell you’d be screwed?
Crocodiles, for sure. It's not that hard to stay at a reasonable distance and observe.

I already have synesthesia, I just rarely talk about it. If not for the one I have (hearing colors), probably seeing numbers as colors.

Eh, probably flat if I'm trying to sleep, fluffy if I'm just laying against it.
