Perhaps I am sunshine
To be the sun in someones life
It is to provide warmth, growth, safety, and sight.
It creates beauty when passed through glass and water.
I can create life with my light.
It is also to burn.
You cannot look for too long,
Or I may make you blind.
You cannot hold me, for I am made from fires and heat.
My rays may touch you
But only from a distance.
Not for too long, or else
You will blister, and peel.
Too much of me, and you disintegrate.
I may bring you joy,
but I am simply a star.
And stars do not care that they burn you
When you fly too close to them.
For if I am sunshine,
I am also fire.
If I am sight,
I am also blind.
If I am too far, you freeze
If I am too close, you burn.
I am better
At the perfect medium.
Small doses, gentle touches,
Nothing too much,
Nothing too little.
