*・゚✧ ❁ ✧*・゚They were caught.
There was no way around it. They had hoped hiding in the hole would have protected them but, in hindsight, they should have realised that they could simply blast the hole to make it bigger - Crippling and getting them in the process, half of their shell mangled from their capture and thus preventing them from making a speedy escape. Or any escape for that matter.
It hurt. Everything hurt. Enough for them to black out now and then, hoping wherever they’re going will be quick and swift should they reach their end.
They didn’t think it could have gotten worse until they were roughly woken up in their little prison and saw...
Oh.
Oh.
Them.
“... Whatever you’re going to do- I don’t care.” They hoped they sounded brave, sounded resolute. They tried to glare up defiantly even as they visibly wilted at the thought of what may happen to them. “I’m not going to squeal on the Tower or on my sisters and brothers and their Guardians.”
On the Brink | Oryx
@aauryx
Everything in her screamed that something wasn’t right.
She’d attended the celebration for the fireteam that felled Oryx, had watched glasses clink together in toasts and laughter encompass the entire Tower at yet another victory. She’d laughed too, at first. As time went on though, Io couldn’t shake the growing feeling that he was still out there somewhere. She was barely able to sleep, her dreams turning into nightmares and bringing her to screams that woke her. Food had little taste, and she found herself only eating to kill the hunger pains that ravaged her guts if she went too long without sustenance.
On a whim she’d taken to the stars to test her new ship. It was a sturdy thing built to accompany the fleet when her days at the Tower were finally finished. The Arach had coined it ‘Kondratyuk’s Escape’, though the significance of the name was lost on her. She only dared push it as far as Saturn. It wasn’t her time to join them yet.
When she’d hit the atmosphere of the ringed planet, her radar’s had gone crazy with static for several seconds before returning to normal. Something about it was off, and she’d descended onto the planet’s surface in order to find out just what was wrong.
The air here was foggy, and it only got thicker as she wandered further from her ship. Io didn’t know what to expect here, and kept her auto rifle ready in case she ran into trouble. When the fog got thick enough that she couldn’t see, she slowed her pace and moved lower to the ground. And suddenly it was gone, and she was standing in a clearing, looking at one of the last thing she’d ever wanted to see.
In front of her, bigger than anything she’d ever seen, laid the body of Oryx, the Taken King. And he was still very much alive, the rise and fall of his sickly-glowing chest enough of an indication.
