TW: discussions of ABA that frame it as positive

man, I was so deeply disappointed to see this NPR article about Medicaid cuts perpetuate this narrative of ABA as "the gold standard"

I clicked on it with a sense of rising dread and sure enough, here's how they talk about an autistic 3 year old:

if you have the spoons, please join me in giving them feedback on this here (click "something I heard or read" -> "something I read"). I expect they didn't want to bring up critiques of ABA because they're focused on families losing access to desperately needed childcare and support.... But I think it's especially important to highlight the harms of ABA at a time when parents are looking for alternatives out of necessity.
