Ok so URGENT question
My cousin is away at college and has one betta male in a 2.5 gallon tank, heater and filtered, very well cared for. A girl on her floor had a betta in a .25 gallon tank and hes healthy so far (shes only had him 2 days). My cousin tried to tell her that its inhumane and so forth. She then cussed my cousin out. Well, the girl managed to trip while walking with said tiny bowl and it shattered. She was going to FLUSH THE LIVE FISH but my cousin had a critter keeper that she uses to transport her little guy to and from college and took the fish. Turns out the girl didn't have water conditioner or even food for the betta.
Right now he is in the critter keeper, but her being a broke college kid, she can't go buy him a setup. He has 2 gallons or so in the keeper, but its unfiltered and has no heater. She called me to ask wether it would be better to divide the good tank with her existing betta, even though there isn't much room because its at least heater and filtered, or if she should leave him with plenty of space in an unheated, unfiltered keeper.
Once she comes home at Christmas she will be able to get another setup, but for now that's her options. I told her I didn't have much experience here and that I would ask around. Anyone have an opinion or advice? Please signal boost this and help if you can.
