The tiny nuances of #abandonment are often overlooked as the onlooker bears no attachment to the space (yet). They gain mystery while trying to fathom how the empty, discarded rooms became that way. After a few visits it begins to feel like their home. It’s not. The mushroom contact paper installed in the junk drawer by someone’s grandmother isn’t theirs. The dingy crocheted curtains of a long European heritage isn’t theirs. The 1,000 clothes hangers where someone’s daily dilemma hung isn’t theirs. Sometimes it shows the happiness of culture.
