Abari:

🏳️‍🌈 A sexuality headcanon

Since he can remember, he has always been attracted to boys only, and yet feeling fully comfortable and confident in such attraction was not easy for him.

South Africa is generally considered the safest and most welcoming country in Africa for the LGBTQ+ community, so it's somewhat similar to living in any other country where being queer is not illegal anymore, but where homophobia and homophobic violence can be deeply ingrained in older generations and predominant outside of big cities, in rural, less developed areas.

When Abari came out to his mom, he formulated it as a joke, asking her if she would still come to his wedding if it were with another man, instead of a woman. His mom laughed out loud and reassured him that as long as he focused on his education first, he was allowed to marry whoever he wished.

This was a big relief to Abari, which prompted him to be more open about who he is. His mother is his rockstar, his pillar of strength, his everything; if she hadn't accepted him, he wouldn't have fared well.

🫂 A friendship headcanon

Friendship is a fundamental concept in his life; he couldn't do without it. He's a very affectionate guy, he has a lot of love in his heart, and he absolutely needs at least someone he can shower with affection besides his mother.

Being an only child took a hard toll on his need for socialisation and while making friends came pretty easily and naturally to him, when at home he would often feel lonely.

He's extremely afraid of being lonely.

Natal:

😺 An animal related headcanon

Natal comes from Oudtshoorn, a city in the Western Cape province, also known as the "ostrich capital of the world" due to its massive export of ostrich feathers.

Growing up alongside them, ostriches quickly made their way among Natal's top favourite animals. The depressing thing is that... the love is far from mutual.

Whenever one of the ostriches roaming around the farm where Natal helps out in his free time catches a glimpse of him, war is irreconcilably on. In his heart, Natal wishes to believe that the explicit murderous intent his favorite animals display at the mere sight of him is just a big misunderstanding, but deep down, he's devastatingly aware of how not a single ostrich has ever shown him anything but vicious attempts at murder :(
