Hold me (Abbton)
It had been ages since Abby had slept this good. But like all good things, she could feel the sleep fading away. She could hear heavy breathing beside her and she could feel the sheets move as the body next to her sat up. She popped open her eyes and blinked a few times to try to wake up. “Ash?” Her voice was raspy from sleep. “Ash, what’s wrong?” She moved her arms and pushed her self up to a sitting position.
Ashton looked over at the brunette and took a breath before pulling her toward him. “Y-you were dead.” Abby looked up at him and wrapped an arm around him protectively. “No….Ash. I don’t ever die. Remember the war?” Ashton shook his head. “I don’t like remembering you like that. You almost died then. And this was different. It felt so real.”
“But it wasn’t. Look at me.” She moved her free hand to his face and titled his head down so that he was looking at her. “I’m right here. I’m not going anywhere. I promise.” She leaned up and pecked his lips lightly. “Wanna tell me how I died this time?”
Ever since the Titans had attacked all those years ago, it seemed every so often someone who had been heavily involved in the war had some kind of PTSD dreams. “No.” Ashton let out a sigh and pulled her closer. “I’m just glad it wasn’t real.” He kissed the top of her head and Abby snuggled up closer to him. “You’re not gonna get rid of me that easily, Stanford.” She smirked. Her fingers were tracing soft circles on his arm. “Go back to sleep.” She whispered.
“The only way I’m going back to sleep is if you grab me alcohol. And I bet you’re to comfortable to move now.” Abby laughed and smacked his arm lightly. “You know me too well. But fine. We’ll just stay awake until you’re sure I’ll never die.” She paused and looked up at him. “Please don’t get any crazy ideas about putting me in a bubble or something.”
It was Ashton’s turn to laugh and he shook his head. “Yeah, like stubborn Abigail Clark would ever let me do that.” “You’re right. I wouldn’t.”
The two stayed up the rest of the night, teasing each other and reminding each other of happy memories before they both finally drifted off to sleep in each other’s arms.
