Chapter 2

Grian is reunited with Sam and Taurtis after four years of thinking they were dead. However, the joy he feels is undercut not only by the fact that there are now two more people in the grove who know his secret, but also the feeling of unease that Gem feels at Sam's presence.

Furthermore, bringing Taurtis: Grian’s past love, home to Scar for much-needed healing sparks an awkward conversation with the promise of more to come.

ok this is nonsense so don’t take it too seriously but my friend just reminded me that before the panaderia hit her 2020 mission was to sleep her way through the alphabet (she got to h)

so now i can’t stop thinking about sokka who makes the same resolution one year and asks zuko ahead of time to fill the ‘z’ slot because “who else am i gonna hook up with? some asshole named zach?” and zuko laughs it off at the time but then slowly realises he. might not be entirely opposed to that.

and then hijinks ensue as zuko tries to rush sokka through the rest of the alphabet by way of overly enthusiastic matchmaking and simultaneous aggression towards anyone on earth with a name that starts with ‘z’

I'm thinking a lot about Xisuma in abc being a changeling, and how changeling genders... don't really exist by nature. They change sex pretty fluidly depending on what the colony needs to keep birth rates steady, kinda like frogs.

I imagine Xisuma likes to keep their genderless base form in day-to-day life even if they tend to dress in a more traditionally masculine way. In ch3, though, they're going to have a reason to try to look humanoid-passing. So, because there are fewer women in Hermitcraft (and by extension Hermit Grove in my au) it would stand to reason that Xisuma would take on a more female-adjacent form than a male-adjacent one, yeah? Because that's what their culture would dictate is "polite?"

The thing is though, they'd probably still wear their normal clothes, so we'd see the village mayor walking around looking like a butch lesbian.

Which there's NO problem with! I just think it's going to be interesting. Of course, all this background reasoning probably won't even show up in the fic, it's just fun to think about.
