I'm still mad about the severely autistic child getting thirteen years of incarceration for an injury he caused during an autistic meltdown.
According to the mother, who could have gone about things better, the child was eleven at the time and trying to calm down from a meltdown. He was in an empty room, calming down, and drinking water.
The vice principal, who went against the protocol of leaving the child alone and possibly wearing protection, approached him.
The child warned her that, if she kept approaching, he would throw things. She kept approaching. He threw things.
She caught one of the chairs he threw and CONTINUED WHAT SHE WAS DOING, using the chair to deflect what was being thrown.
He threw a wooden hanger that ricocheted off the chair and into her eye, knocking it out of its socket. The eye had to be removed.
Now, this severely autistic CHILD is being treated like a malicious demon that should forever be outcast from society and incarcerated.
He's getting one hundred percent of the blame even though the protocol wasn't followed.
The child should be getting HELP.
Incarcerating him will not do anything to help. It's one hundred percent being angry at a severely autistic child who had a meltdown and was continously provoked further.
Not to mention that we have such shitty resources for autistic children and their parents.
And here people are; putting all the blame on an autistic child.
Was he just supposed to magically stop being autistic and become calm and think logically no matter what is happening?
