I should really do an Abertoir post about all my favourite films at the festival

Scariest so far (imo) is Across the River. I was freaking out, such good film making, people might think it's a slow burner but it did focus on building the tension and did not disappoint

Weirdest would be Discopath. Premise: Every time a guy listens to Disco music he gets a murderous impulse. tbh right now I'm listening to Kiss' I Was Made of Loving You, which is played at the climatic scenes of the film. Probably the best soundtrack in the fest yet. 

Most emotional film would be Painless, Urgh so interesting and sad. Well, it is set in Spain during the Civil War and has children who can't feel pain looked up in an asylum but very good storytelling. 

Best classic so far. Sadly I missed Madhouse earlier today but I loved The Mummy, with Peter Cushing, who was voted best cult hero in The Court of Cult panel today. It has Christopher Lee as the Mummy, amazing acting from both parts. 

SOMETHING YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF BUT SHOULD CHECK IT OUT ANYWAY, would be Danger 5. I can't explain this really, it's like a TV show which is released on youtube I think and its about these 5 agents who have go to "KILL HITLER" in the 60's, and it looks like a 60's show. As a trekkie, I loved it, I puts in all the bad costumes and sets and even worse dubbing. There boss is a giant seagull in a suit. Yeah just google it. It's good shit. 

So this is just a general thing, by the end of the week I'll post more on the festival in a much better, professional way...hopefully

Time for a double-whammy Sunday treat! First, an important announcement – we know you’re all champing at the bit to get your festival passes…well, the wait is almost over! Passes will go on sale at 10:30am on WEDNESDAY, 28th AUGUST. That’s this coming Wednesday! There will be a limited number of 40 early bird passes at the staggeringly bargaintastic price of £49.50. That’s £8.25 per day, people! Once we run out of early birds, the price will rise to the still remarkably reasonable £58. The only way to get hold of a pass for the time being will be by phoning the lovely folks at the Arts Centre box office, on 01970 623232 – but hold fire until Wednesday morning! Remember, we kick off with The Haunting on the evening of the 5th of November, with a special Q&A with Richard Johnson. Then it’s non-stop horror right the way through until the evening of the 10th of November. To sweeten the deal a bit for you above is the second treat – a sneak peek of this year’s poster! Once again the incredibly talented Peter Stevenson has done a wonderful job for us, and the poster will be revealed in all its glory on Wednesday too!
