Destination Style - ABFW ‘16: Zuhair Murad - Embellished Fantasies
It’s no secret that I’m a fan of Zuhair Murad! Typically, I’m always featuring his designs which are always on the red carpet during awards season. Although none of his more colorful pieces walked at Australian Bridal Fashion Week, his bridal style is still extremely ornate and perfect for the bride who wants an eye catching style complete with intricate details that will leave guests talking about her dress for years to come!
Destination Style - ABFW ‘16: When Freddie Met Lilly - Colorful Brides
One final design where I caught video footage from When Freddie Met Lilly is this gorgeous liquid silk halter. I genuinely loved the movement on the gown as well as the twisted rope back design in the bodice.
Destination Style - ABFW ‘16: When Freddie Met Lilly - Colorful Brides
If there’s one thing that I can say made Australian Bridal Fashion Week a stand out event for me was the sheer number of new-to-me designers that I was able to preview at one time. I love NYBFW but much of my coverage focuses on collections from fabulous designers that I love, but who my readers should be well acquainted with at this point. But When Freddie Met Lilly is one such new-to-me designer I saw at Australian Bridal Fashion Week!
The collection did feature a variety of more traditional bridal styles which will appeal to the classic brides. But if you’re a bride looking for something with just a little bit of pop to take your bridal style over the edge, then you’re going to love the colorful styles from When Freddie Met Lilly which are featured above. My personal favorite is a tie between the pale blue a-line gown in the 2nd style and the final silver trumpet silhouette.

Destination Style - ABFW ‘16: Tavi Couture - Sheer Elegance
Tavi Couture is yet another new-to-me designer with an emphasis on sheer lace overlays. If you’re a bride who loves the idea of something a bit different from the standard silk and satin crafted wedding gowns, then this is the collection for you. Although only a small vignette of four styles graced the runway, this collection is definitely for a much more modern bride and possibly even a beach wedding destination bride with simple sheath sheer lace full length dresses layered over opaque strapless minis.
Destination Style - ABFW ‘16: Shane McConnell - Defining Bridal Style Pt 2
Again, I genuinely loved how Shane McConnell’s styles were each unique creations that differentiated themselves within the collection and from the other designers that also showed at Australian Bridal Fashion Week. Featured above is a slow motion capture of a gown and cape combo that graced the runway during his collection’s segment.
Destination Style - ABFW ‘16: Shane McConnell - Defining Bridal Style
Shane McConnell is another new-to-me Aussie based designer who I absolutely adore. Not only did he bring an amazing collection to market, but I had the chance to hang out with him the night before the Australian Bridal Fashion Week media day and he is truly an amazing spirit with a fantastic personality! What I loved about Shane McConnell’s collection was not just the diversity in gowns, but the redefining ways in which he employed various design techniques such as illusion lace, horsehair trim and even his channeling of retro era glam styles for the modern bride. Hands down one of my favorite styles was the gold sequin illusion neckline gown featuring ornate beading on the back.

Destination Style - ABFW ‘16: Shabi & Israel - Showstopping Style Pt 3
Another dress that I genuinely loved from the Shabi & Israel segment was this sheath silhouette beaded gown with strategic cutouts. As shown in the slow motion video I took of it, the movement on this gown was literally everything!
