(I know I’ve already posted a Chapter today but I can’t bother writing Chapter 5 tomorrow, so I’ve posted Chapter 4 today)
Hello! This is Chapter 4 of my Dishonored fic On Thin Ice
Give me some feedback in the comments if you see this please, I am really self-conscious about my writing so constructive criticism would be helpful :)
Below the cut
Getting into the slaughterhouse wasn’t so hard. It was getting to Rothwild that was difficult.
Billie reappeared
“Rothwild’s got a stubborn reputation. I doubt asking nicely is going to work. We’ll have to find a more persuasive way of getting what we want out of him.”
Daud had no clue about what he was going to do. But, he couldn’t just sit around, he had to take action some way or another.
“He’s probably close to his office. We should start there.” Billie remarked.
Although he had a keen eye, Billie has always been able to spot things Daud hadn’t.
Daud saw two butchers talking slightly above him. They couldn’t see Daud but Daud had a great view of them.
Daud ignored them but couldn’t help but notice the large chainsaw one of them was holding. He prayed to the void that there was no more of them.
He blinked up above the 2 workers and silently made his way across to a high wall. Getting over it was no problem.
After he made his way, he saw a whale suspended in the air with a fair amount of workers there. Most of them had chainsaws like the other one.
Just great..
Billie seemed to have got there before him. She was crouched down, looking over the edge to the butchers below. Billie started talking about the whale. Daud wasn’t listening. Not because he had a low attention span; it was because he was too busy looking somewhere else. Daud saw a small ledge with a railing around it. There was no way to get to it from the ground floor. No stairs, ladder. Nothing. So, he had to use a transversal.
Daud still waited for Billie to finish what she was saying. He only heard the end of her sentence,
“...I know they’re just beasts, but still.” Then she left.
Daud took this time to blink over to the small platform and step inside.
At first glance, he saw an audiograph player, a safe and a couple of sleep darts lying around. Daud grabbed the sleep darts and looked around the desk. On it, he saw two notes. One addressed to Abigail Ames. Daud turned on the audiograph and heard Rothwild talking.
This must be Rothwild’s office, thought Daud.
After a few minutes trying to crack the safe code, he gave up. Daud had more important things to do. Daud exited through another door and was met with a long hallway. He travelled down it and saw Rothwild and another person talking. Daud made the conclusion that that was Abigail Ames.
He crouched behind a bookcase and heard Rothwild interrogating her.
“You were working for Ramsey. How long? How much does he know by now?”
“Ramsey? No, this is about the workers. This is about fair pay and safe conditions.”
As the two of them shared a slightly heated argument, Daud managed to sneak up behind Rothwild and choke him out. Abigail didn’t seem phased by this gesture.
Daud picked up Rothwild, completely ignoring Ames, and made his way to the interrogation room.
