Weapons Training
[Continued from x]
A slight feeling of uncertainty washed over the young noble; as she approached the maid with the idea of self-defense lessons. Abigail had handled a gun on the occasion, rare and under necessity. But after the events of the Campania...well naturally to her learning to protect herself and her brother was the next step.
Clearing her throat to grab Mey-Rin's attention she fiddled with her hands before finding her will to speak her request. "I understand you have duties to attend to today," she began assuming a more poised stance. "But I wish for you to teach me how to handle and shoot firearms." She exhaled slowly to plead her case. "As I go on these investigations I want to be able to be prepared and protect myself and brother. I...I understand you have experience and that most maids would insist otherwise; it is not widely accepted for someone in my position to know how to do," Her voice shifted and cracked into something more vulnerable, pleading almost.
"But I must....I must be able to...something. I cannot continue to be helpless when things occur.." She looked up a will a deep conviction in her gaze @true-phantomhive-heir
Adjusting her spectacles, Mey-Rin listened to what the young woman had to say. "On the contrary, Mistress. I have heard of nobles using guns often, though probably more for sport than defense. Unless needed..." She touched her fingertip to her chin. "But in your case, it would be needed, I think. Or at least it might prove helpful if something were to happen and you had no other choice. And you are of this house, so I can't rightly refuse you, Mistress. I haven't been told anything otherwise, at least. All right, let me fetch the necessary things and I will give you a lesson."
Having gathered up some handguns, bullets, and emptied tin cans, she led Abigail to the fence marking the edge of the property. Mey-Rin set up a row of cans along the top of the fence. "You should try a revolver first. It's small and easy to load. This one doesn't kick too much, which helps when you haven't much experience. Now I'm going to hand you this gun. Be careful not to pull the trigger till I say so." With it lying flat across her palms, she handed the revolver to Abigail. "You's going to point it at that first can on the left. Don't worry about hitting it. You won't be able to hit it yet. I just need to see how you handle it and how your aim is to start with." Stepping to the side, she watched the young woman carefully. "Ready... Aim... Fire!"
