After emerging from the Abyss, Nightmare regained his original body, but he had lost some of his corruption, and his connection to the balance of the multiverses. He has his dark eyes, one of them is partially purple and we see the real color of his skull. In combat he can cover the part with corruption or even make the eye disappear to imitate a Nightmare and go under the radar.
History :
Before his death the Nightmare ended up achieving his life's goal, killing Dream and retrieving the apple. Unfortunately he didn't have time to absorb it completely when the multiverse collapsed and as his body crumbled into dust, the only thought that crossed him was "Was it worth all his sacrifices?" This thought kept his soul alive and so he fell into the Abime.
When he came out if Abime, it was with the small statuette of the dragon, and the emptiness that had been made in his soul, found itself filled with a new objective. Maybe he could choose a new future.
After several years, he and the Dream left the Neutral Multiverse and set off on a journey, mixed if Nightmare had come to watch over the Dragon Child.
Character :
Just like the Dream that accompanies him, this Nightmare is prey to an inner rivalry, both to accept or reject his past and its corruption, as well as what may become next.

Âme's real name is Amae, but the Nightmare ended up calling him Âme by accident and came to believe it was his name. Ultimately the Dream kept that name.
