Those photos got me thinking...
The new Summer Package 2019 preview photos gave me an idea:
ABO, Joseon-era royalty AU, where once every year after presenting (usually at around 18 or 19 years old), all the young Omega Lords get bathed and dressed in beautiful hanbok, with makeup and all the prettiest jewelry, and are sent to the official town matchmaker in the hopes of finding husbands.
Meanwhile, all the eligible Alpha bachelors of high standing are also sent to the matchmaker in their finest, looking to choose a bride. This year is special though, because the crown prince Kim Namjoon, a very late bloomer at 23, finally presented as an Alpha.
As a pureblood Alpha, and the Prince, Namjoon could have his pick of the fittest, youngest, and most prestigious of all the Omegas from the well-to-do families. So it comes as a surprise when he does not demand but asks, bowed on one knee, if Kim Seokjin, of all people, would become his future mate.
By the matchmaker’s standards, Jin is already passed prime marriage age even though he is only 25. He’s oddly broad for an Omega, his laugh was goofy, and despite being known as the prettiest Omega in four generations, his fingers were crooked and his waist was too skinny - all things considered bad for an Omega who ought to be dainty, unblemished, and ready to bear children.
Not to mention the little matter that he’d been kicked out by the very same matchmaker for the past three years for refusing to go with any Alpha who tried to purchase him like a cut of meat at the market. He’d become the subject of many a disparaging comment for not honoring his family name by being an obedient Omega son, and has refused all potential suitors.
However, he never expected to be given a choice - and not just by an Alpha, but by the future King.
(Of course the twist is that Namjin met as children or young teens when Namjoon was more rebellious and snuck out of the palace, disguised as any other lord’s son. Because only the highest officials and palace workers every really saw the royal family up close, Seokjin had no idea who the sweet boy was that ended up capturing his heart after only a day spent playing and laughing together. AKA there’s some fated/true mates bullshit going on here because I am a sucker for soulmates).
Featuring Alpha Yoongi as Namjoon’s cousin and best friend, and Hobi as his fated Omega mate. They meet at the matchmakers, only Hobi’s face is hidden behind a veil because he’s so nervous, and Yoongi makes a fool of himself because he’s being forced to go to the matchmaker against his will. It all works out in the end of course.
Also OT3 Taekookmin somehow too because we need Jin, Hobi, and Jimin as the rowdy Omega trio that are the prettiest boys in town yet they can’t just find husbands because they are A Mess and drive the matchmaker fucking crazy.
