HD 2.0 Demon Motivations

Here is a list of the motivations of my motivations for my demons from Humanity’s Demon 2nd draft. I did just create Zadkiel’s counterpart demon (named Catrina, pronounced as if there is an E between the T and the R). However, I haven’t done enough with her yet to be able to decide her motivations, so she’ll be left out of this post. (:

Anyway, here is the list of motivations.

I tried to write more about this back on the 5th, Aamon’s birthday, but I got swamped with real life stuff(tm) and now here I finally am writing it!

Okay, so Aamon turned 27 in most verses. And the 27th Birthday specifically in his underworld is INCREDIBLY important. In the old times, this is when Demons would join or start building up their warbands - groups of likeminded Demons who got up to big trouble, started fights, stole, etc in the hopes of becoming big-shot leaders of the Underworld.

Obviously, in Aamon’s world as it currently stands, going around and causing trouble to try and gain political power isn’t really a thing. BUT this tradition has stuck around, and has morphed from ‘your warband is people you actually fight with and commit crimes with’ to ‘your warband are your found family, the people you choose to have with you who are important to you.’

As a result, on a Demon’s 27th birthday, it is considered in incredibly poor taste to get them a gift unless you are actively committing to being part of their ‘warband’ in some way, shape, or form. And even then, there are only so many “acceptable” gifts, and what type of gift you give is symbolic of your dedication to said Warband, and their leader.

The most important gift one can give is a Weapon. This is essentially announcing that the recipient is so important to you that you would put yourself in mortal peril, or perhaps even die for them. (In Aamon’s case he got two weapons for his 27th Birthday, a Warhammer from Daeva - his best friend - and a Wakizashi from his Teacher, Takara.)

In addition, gifts from blood relatives or legal spouses are not allowed, as those ties are largely considered “expected” in Demon culture, and the 27th Birthday and the Warband is considered a celebration of CHOSEN family, specifically.

And, last but not least, this celebration isn’t just for the 27th birthday... it’s for the 127th, 227th, etc. So a Demon’s warband is expected to grow with time.

Reasons I Love Aamon

As per this post, I am doing a "reasons I love __" series in which I talk about why I love my WIPs and characters. I'm taking my OC page   and using that as my guide for what order to write about characters. I   skipped the rp/OHS characters for now, though, since I talk about them the most.

I've already talked about DHaF, Belinda, Ikuisuus, Juma, Chippy, DHaFN, Ruby, Soul Surgery, Jason Zephyr, The Forest, Amelia R., Cadence, Vampire Idol rewrite, Elizabeth, Nane, Humanity’s Demon, Demonic,  Samuel, Katherine A, Clarissa, Humanity’s Demon 2.0, Satan, Lucifer, Azrael, Fredrich, Lilith and Apollyon.

Here is what I love about Aamon:

he is adorable and loving, unlike what you’d expect for a demon

his ability is making humans fall in love with each other, which is not an ability one would expect from a demon

he works with Polly

he loves humans and finds them fascinating

one of the only demons who doesn’t have a counterpart angel

while he’s soft and sweet, there’s a secret darkness hidden away inside

his dynamic with Polly

Aamon, also known as Little Cupid, is the lover of the demons. He is loving and accepting of everybody and is known for giving hugs and kissing the cheeks of anyone who’ll let him.

Full Name: Aamon

Nicknames: Little Cupid

Age: “You really care when you look at me, how old I am?”

Gender: male (he/him)

Species: demon

Ability: basically he’s cupid - he can make any 2 humans fall in love (his powers are not effective against angels or demons)

Personality: chipper, optimistic, silly, loving, affectionate (loooves to hug!), cuddly

Likes: cuddling, hugging, cooking for the humans’ souls

Dislikes: meanness, bullying (which is part of the reason he was sent to work on earth before everyone else)
