BASICS:
name: aly age: twenty! prefered pronouns: she/her sexuality: straight as far as i know zodiac sign: aquarius taken or single: married to buffalo ranch dip three facts: i play guitar, literally no one has ever heard of one of my favorite tv shows on the planet, and i'm actually seriously fascinated by sharks and criminology.
EXPERIENCE:
how long (months/years?): eight years, maybe longer if you include all writing in general. i used to write these short stories that scared my friends and their parents because they were based off of scary movies. ahah. how’d you start: i think the first actual roleplay i was in was gossip girl based, lmfao. platforms you’ve used: forums, tumblr, kik. worst experience: when the dumb ass admins of this one group i was in tried to tell me i was playing my own character wrong. long story short that rp closed and i think i was mostly responsible for calling them out on their shit, lmfao. and that's the story of how i never joined a group roleplay again. best experience: there's been so many, but it would have to be when i met the first person i ever roleplayed with on tumblr. we were both total noobs together and we had our first ship together and we STILL talk which is amazing.
MUSE PREFERENCES:
female or male: i like them both the same tbh. original or canon: both, again. favorite face: i've used crystal reed the longest out of everyone so i feel like i should say her. but i actually had the patience to make hundreds of icons for sasha pieterse last night, so i should probably say her too because i never have the motivation to make my own icons. least favorite face: there'a a looot of faces i don't like. i hate seeing people use ian nelson though tbh because hE'S OPENLY SAID THAT HE'S UNCOMOFORTABLE WITH IT. multi or single: single
WRITING PREFERENCES:
fluff, angst or smut: this is like asking me to choose between dean winchester and stiles stilinski, you just don't do it. plots or memes: i looove them both. plots last longer obviously, but i just really love memes when my muse is being shifty and i'm looking for something to write. long or short replies: i like longer replies in general, but i only get to them on a really good muse day. shorter replies move along faster. and the length of my replies will probably change a lot within the same thread tbh. best time to write: total night owl, i have muse really late as night when everyone else is asleep. do you like your muse(s): why would i have my muses if i didn't like them i'm laughing
so, just a heads up, if we have threads and i annoy you as a writer or as a person, please fucking tell me. i don't want anyone feeling obligated to reply to me in fear of hurting my feelings. it gives off a vibe and it really does show. seriously, you have the complete right to drop threads, and i would prefer that over your false enthusiasm. it makes me so uncomfortable, thank you.
1-60 take that
oh my god.
if you had to change your character’s fc for one day, who would you pick?
do i have to??? sobs. is saying dylan o’brien against the rules? because it’s just weird to think about considering the circumstances but
what drew you to rping this character?
scotty too hotty is the bae. seriously, i love him almost as much as lorelai gilmore and that says a lot because she’s my favorite fictional character on the planet. i don’t understand anyone that doesn’t like scott mccall. anyone that argues that he doesn’t care about his friends or is simply trying to be righteous for the glory are wrong. the fact that he cares and he makes self sacrifices and that he would do anything to keep the people around him safe, not because he’s righteous, but because he’s humble, is the reason that i play him in the first place. he could have given up a long time ago, but he didn’t. he could’ve left jackson to die countless times (someone, that might i add, was rude as fuck to him the majority of the time), but he didn’t. he could’ve left liam to die, derek to die, everyone to die countless times, but he didn’t. he’s not fighting a battle no teenager should have to go through because he wants to be a hero, he does it because he can’t not be if he can do something to help. besides, he doesn’t think he’s a hero or that he has all the answers in the first place. i just love him and i could rant for hours about how great he is, so moving on.
what’s something you like about how you write?
i think that i express my characters emotions pretty well. and i’m pretty good at packing as much as i can into the length of a para that people give me, without making it look sloppy. i don’t know, i’m not really good at analyzing my own writing. but i like to think i’m good at it?
what’s something you dislike about how you write or wish you were better at?
oh man, my first reply is always my worst. and don’t even get me started on starters. i’m awful at getting the ball rolling and putting down everything that i want to fit. i’m literally never satisfied with it. which is ironic since i offer to start a lot of the time.
what’s something about your character that you’d like if you had to spend time with them?
try everything? but i would be such a stiles and i would probably talk him into a lot of dumb ideas that would get him grounded tbh.
what’s something about your character that you wouldn’t like if you had to spend time with them?
nothing as of present canon. but if i had to know him during season 1 where he whined about allison all the time, i’d probably smack him.
what’s a negative thing about your character that you enjoy writing?
i like that he’s so self inflicting when it comes to the blame of a situation, i guess. sometimes he makes me roll my eyes because there’s usually literally nothing he could have done, but it’s always interesting to have a character that has the mindset of ‘if i just would have this, if i just would have that, then maybe…’
what’s a similarly you have with your character?
we would both do anything for the people we love, and we both can be pretty scary when we’re in protective mode.
what’s a difference you have with your character?
scott is way too cheesy when it comes to romantic relationships. like oh my god scott, please just stop talking before i puke.
what’s the hardest thing for you to write?
nothing is really hard for me to write exactly, but sometimes i find certain characters in general really challenging to grasp. like an excessively dark character or a sociopath.
do you think you’ve gotten better at writing anything or any type of thing or situation since you started writing this character (or roleplaying in general)?
for sure. when i first started roleplaying forever ago, i was ridiculously bad at it. i was a hot ass mess, tbh, coming from a place before that where i always kept the things i wrote to myself. also, the nsfw shit that i wrote back then would probably make me laugh my ass off now, too.
why do you roleplay?
i just love writing stories and bringing them to life, i guess. i love to laugh and cry and scream and flail and freak out, and know that it’s something that i created and that my writing is something that’s my own. and i get to watch my characters grow, and some of them end up shaping who i am as a person and it’s just amazing to me.
do you write fiction ever other than rping?
i used to, but not so much anymore. i have like a million short stories and novels in a box somewhere.
do you like fanfiction more or less than reading rp threads between characters?
less. i know some people go nuts over fanfiction, but i could live without it. i like watching my dash and seeing things develop better, especially with my own characters.
do you like or dislike oc/canon character interactions in principle?
it’s cool. it would be boring to only interact with the same canon characters that we see on the show all the time, it’s nice to do crossovers and to explore different oc’s that people made up to fit into the canon world.
what’s your favorite thing about rping a canon character?
that i get to take him in directions that i want to, without sitting around and wishing it would happen on the show.
what’s something you dislike about rping a canon character?
that people police each other’s blogs way too much. since they’re ‘canon’, it’s easy for someone to try and tell you you’re playing a character ‘wrong’, since different people can interpret characters in so many different ways.
what’s your favorite thing about rping an original character?
you can make them your own without worrying about someone claiming that you aren’t playing them correctly.
what’s something you dislike about rping an original character?
no one cares about oc’s as much, and they often get ignored and have little to no people willing to write with them. which is lame, because oc’s are great.
how much time do you spend roleplaying on average a week?
it varies. i could sit and lurk all day if i had the time, but usually i don’t, so i’m not really sure.
do you think about your threads and your character when you aren’t roleplaying? how and for how long on average?
omg, yes. threads that give me major feelings keep me up at night sometimes. whether it’s angst or fluff or anything. sometimes i’ll fall asleep rereading threads if i really love them.
do you like lots of headcanons or few?
i like them, but i usually come up with them in my head or with a writing partner and i literally always forget to put them in my headcanon tag, so it’s like, empty. BUT I HAVE THEM AND LOVE ME SOME HEADCANONS.
what’s your take on aus?
sign me up. it’s a chance to put a character everywhere and anywhere, what’s not to love?
what’s your favorite au?
i love past/future au’s. specifically prior season one when it comes to scott. also i’m totally in love with my child verse okay.
what’s your least favorite au?
i don’t really have au’s i don’t like?
what’s a ship you really like rping?
SCOTT AND STILES. but chemistry is key.
what’s a ship you would never rp? for what reason?
if we’re talking teen wolf, i don’t really have any strict notps. i’m not a big fan of scott and allison, but i could still ship them under the right circumstances i guess, maybe. if we’re talking any ship ever in the whole world of ships, there’s a lot of ships i hate in that case so i can’t narrow it down.
what do you like about roleplaying angst?
it gets my adrenaline pumping if it’s angsty enough. and it just totally fucks up my feels okay.
what do you dislike about roleplaying angst?
sometimes i’ll genuinely get really upset if i’m channeling my character with a lot of muse, and i’m in love/hate with that feeling.
what do you like about roleplaying fluff?
it’s so like, i don’t know, cute, that’s the first word that comes to mind like.
what do you dislike about roleplaying fluff?
that’s like asking me what i dislike about gilmore girls.
what do you like about roleplaying ships/romance?
i get to follow characters as their feelings for someone grow, as they fall in love, sometimes as they get their hearts broken, all that good stuff.
what do you dislike about roleplaying ships/romance?
i die.
nsfw rp — yes or no? why?
it’s not what i make every ship about, but i do write it, and i guess it’s something that i like to do? i consider myself okay at it i guess, so it’s not like i have anxiety to write it or anything. it can be fun if you work well with the person you’re writing it with.
do you ever read other people’s nsfw rp threads? (be honest!)
yep. literally no shame. if anyone says no to this question they are the biggest big fat liar liar pants on fire.
do you ever read rp threads you aren’t involved in? what type of thread does it usually have to be to interest you?
sometimes random threads will catch my eye, and i’ll keep up on them. i don’t really know what the key factor is, i guess it’s just if it’s a pairing that i like and something juicy is happening?
if you do read threads you aren’t in, do you usually let the other authors know, or keep it under your hat?
if i ever do talk to them out of character, i’ll tell them that i’m totally stalking their thread with so and so, so yeah. but if i don’t talk to them/never eventually do talk to them, then i don’t really say anything usually, but i don’t hide that i do it. i’d think that people would like the fact that someone likes their threads enough to read them? at least i would.
has a roleplayer ever changed your view on a character? if so, how? good or bad? for better or for worse?
canon wise, i have some issues with sam winchester. but a lot of the sams i’ve seen on tumblr are really great writers and they make me wanna try and keep an open mind about him. and honestly, the majority of the roleplay world if anything has made me dislike jackson even more. i’ve also had people make me completely love or despise certain fc’s in general, depending on the situation.
do you like to title threads or not?
not really, but i’m adaptable to them if someone adds one i guess.
do you like to plot or improv?
plot, usually. unless i know the other writer really well and our characters already have good chemistry, then i’ll be happy to wing it and see what happens.
do you like to make open starters?
sometimes, but i usually specify starters for people that ask for them.
do you like to answer open starters?
if i see something that has no notes i try to answer opens, just because i don’t like seeing people going ignored, but normally i only reply to opens if i already know the writer. because a lot of the time, people will choose not to answer you anyway.
do you usually prefer chat/short replies, or long/para/novella replies?
all depends on my muse. but assuming that i have lots of muse, i like longer threads a lot more because i can add more detail.
what’s your favorite thing about rping a chat/short style thread?
that you can move something along more quickly between characters if they already have a relationship. it’s also short and quick if i’m lacking necessary muse for longer stuff.
what’s your least favorite thing about rping a chat/short style thread?
not enough depth at times, especially if it’s a new interaction. i have a tendency to end up turning short threads into long ones.
what’s your favorite thing about rping a long/para/novella style thread?
i can make sure that i get to add everything that i need to, without worrying about keeping it short.
what’s your least favorite thing about rping a long/para/novella style thread?
sometimes they take a long time for one or both partners to finish, and they don’t develop as quickly as i’d like. but my muse come and goes so much that it’s hard for me to keep on them constantly.
do you prefer gifs or icons when roleplaying? or no fc at all?
icons or gif icons. other gifs, especially super big gifs, make my blog look super messy in my eyes and it just spikes up some sort of ocd and drives me crazy? i don’t know. but if the other person is using them, i’ll try and suck it up and sob about it to myself. honesty hour up in here.
do you roleplay with people whose characters aren’t from the same dimentional universe as yours? (for example, if your character is drawn or anime, will you rp with people who use actor face claims/play-bys?)
uh, for once, since i try to roleplay with everyone, i think my answer is no. gonna stick with this dimension.
what’s something you like about fcs/play-bys?
they make it easy to visualize a character, i guess. and i enjoy looking at a lot of people’s attractive faces, so that’s a plus too.
what’s something you dislike about fcs/play-bys?
people hate on certain fc’s to the point where there’s drama left and right over it. sometimes people need to take a chill pill and tone it down. #toeachtheirownmovement2k14
what’s a trope or plot you think is overdone in roleplay?
there’s a lot overdone plots out there, but i think that if you make them your own and you like to write it, then you should do your thing and not care if it’s overdone or not.
what’s a trope or plot you’ll never get sick of roleplaying?
halloween/horror/paranormal/supernatural based plots tbh. i loVE them. i’ve been suggesting them to literally everyone, i’m a halloween plot whore.
what’s a trope or plot you love but you’ve never gotten to roleplay or never gotten to roleplay in completion?
i think arranged marriage plots would be interesting. especially if they already know each other and hate each other. yes.
what do you like to do as you reply to threads? listen to music? have tv on? complete silence? dark room? etc.
i need complete silence, especially if it’s a long thread. i’ll get distracted and lose concentration if there’s too much noise.
how did you learn about roleplaying? how did you get started roleplaying yourself?
i just knew about it, i guess?? somewhere along the line i obviously had to have learned about it, but i’m at a loss to the exact moment that was. i was never into it though, until i was obsessed with gossip girl back when it was still airing, and so i searched gossip girl rp’s and then bam, the start of aly’s roleplay career.
what was your first roleplay character?
already answered.
what’s your newest roleplay character?
probably scott, actually?? i mean i’m not new to playing him, it’s been almost a year i think (or already has been i’m not actually sure), but he’s still the newest. all of my other characters i’ve had longer.
what/who is a character you think you would like to roleplay? what’s currently stopping you from roleplaying them?
i’ve considered damon from the vampire diaries, lorelai from gilmore girls and braeden from teen wolf. i haven’t decided to play damon because i stopped watching the show after season three when they fucked everything up, at least in my opinion they did. so i’m not really up to date on him as a character. i could make him season three divergent or something, but i don’t know. i really like braeden, but i feel like all i really have is the essence of her personality, and i’d like to know more about her before i decided to play her so that i’d know i could get her right? and lorelai, literally the only thing stopping me is the fandom being so small and me probably not having anyone to write with.
who’s a roleplayer (or writer) you think you have learned a lot from?
honestly? i don’t really have one of those. when i first started roleplaying, my first rp friend ever ronnie was as new to it as i was, so we both kind of helped each other out and learned the ropes together. so i guess we kind of taught ourselves. as a writer, i already knew a lot and i’ve always had a really good vocabulary, so i didn’t really need too much help in that department. i just had to figure out how to not be a noob with the roleplay part, mostly.
57
57. what was your first roleplay character?
okay okay, omfg. so i loVED gossip girl back when it still aired and i was literally obsessed, it was a problem. i used to write short stories and shit on my own, and i had writing experience all the way back to when i was like seven, but i’d never actually written with other people until i decided to look into gossip girl roleplays because, hello, more opportunity for gossip girl is always a yes, and i ended up joining a next generation one where i played amelia bass (lucy hale fc) who was the youngest of the bass children and she was fab and i actually miss that roleplay a shit ton. but it was so long ago that the bios were a tiny paragraph long and big gifs were used as graphics. yeah, it’s been a while.
