When you get this, please say 5 nice things about yourself publicly, then send it to 10 of your favorite followers (positivity is cool) :)
okay, I know everyone kind of says this, but it’s hard to talk positively about yourself without feeling like you’re conceited since we’re raised in a society that constantly beats us down in order to sell us stuff that’ll “make us feel better” but ya know, that’s a rant against our capitalist society best given somewhere that ISN’T a sweet positive-spreading ask where I’m supposed to focus on good things about myself LOL
- I will always choose kindness, even if it’s not something I personally want or feel like doing. There’s too much of everything else in this world be it cruelty, negativity, or what have you. If I have a chance, even one small minute in someone’s day to give them a smile or a friendly exchange, or do anything that will cause something positive, I will always try my hardest to do that thing and I think that’s pretty cool of me.
- I’m pretty freaking funny to be quite frank. I feel like I’m good at making people laugh, and I’m always laughing, so it’s kind of hard to spend time with me and not crack a grin tbh If people are laughing, I’m happy.
- I’m a good person to talk to in general. People always seem to know I’m the one you trust to talk to, even if I’m not sure how they do. I will say that when I say secrets don’t leave me... they don’t. I have never felt as though I gain anything by spreading something someone asked me to keep private, and I’d never want to burn that trust they put in me in the first place. I have so many secrets from so many people, even people I don’t know anymore. Plus, I hate drama, and spreading secrets creates further drama so like... why the fuck would I do any of that? I tend to really like that about myself, and it’s something I’ve been told positively about myself for a long time now.
- I am good at writing. This is both easy and hard for me to say. I have been writing non-stop, damn near daily for the past eighteen years so, yeah, I better be good at it by now! But even though I recognize that I have a talent with writing and that I’ve worked hard to get to where I am nowadays when I do write... I still do struggle with feeling like my writing becomes one-note or flat. Since I’m meant to stay positive here, I will say lately I have taken more of an interest in reading through and editing my work once I write it and no longer being afraid to rework entire paragraphs, sentences, whatever it may be. I used to feel like editing meant my product wasn’t good to begin with, but then I realized how stupid that was. I think my writing is becoming stronger for it, and I appreciate that I am not so vain to think there’s nothing more to improve on. So, even though I may constantly seek some sort of validation through my writing, I will say I recognize I am at least good at it!
- I’m hella cute. I’ve always struggled with considering myself attractive, being a plus-sized gal growing up in a very anti-plus-size world, but these last few years I have done wonders to unplug myself from the matrix and rework what has been wrongly hardwired in my brain. Through doing so I’ve come to appreciate the roundness of my curves, in appreciating how short and stocky and strong my body is rather than hating myself for not being small and dainty, in appreciating how husky my voice is instead of being perky and girlish. I went from constantly cracking self-deprecating fat jokes to beat others to the punch to instead cracking jokes about how I am going to show up to the highland games and beat out all the men there to make them swoon over me because I’ll be so buff and strong they’ll immediately want to make strong babies with me LOL I constantly crack positive jokes about my body and how big it is, and it makes me feel so good about myself. I’m not saying it’s perfect or that I don’t occasionally fall to the self-hatred society implanted in my brain against my will from a young age, but the person I am today is so vastly different from who I was five years ago... so much happier and more free, so much more capable of checking myself and checking those bullshit thoughts and understanding that they ARE bullshit thoughts all because I started looking at myself and thinking “You know what... I am pretty fucking adorable.”
