i was tagged by @404-not-found-xix​ in another one of those get to know the blogger things so here we go ^_^ five random facts about me

1) both my grandfathers (excluding the biological grandpa who lives on a boat down in the islands) are car guys, so i’m a bit of a hot rod girl. i know my way around the engine of a Model T. i’ve been beating my dad and my brother at racing since i was old enough to drive a go kart. my grandpa callyerdogs off says i’m the only grandaughter (out of like 20+) who he trusts to drive his hot rods solo - i’ve driven his 1926 hulk hot rod to cle elum for a car show, it was my first time driving the hulk alone and even though i was in a caravan with my grandpa behind me in his 1941 chevy, going like 80mph along a river with twists and turns for over an hr in that archie bucket was one of the biggest driving thrill’s i’ve ever had. \o/ (photo on my 2019 solo road trip through nevada taken at my favorite castle in the desert. shirt is from my grandpa’s car club name redacted lol)

2) growing up in the northwest i’ve been hiking mountains since age 14 (photo 2019 kendalls katwalk with sanjeev)

3) i graduated an andrew carnegie scholar from guess where. the only famous art alum from my alma mater hated the school of art/design almost as much as i did. i respect warhol’s work in a conceptual sense but if we’re talking technical artistic skill and the idea of art practice as a whole im more a bob ross fan. (photo from “italian restaurant night” my friend and i put together spontaneously one friday like a month before pandemic lockdown meant i couldnt go over to their house all the time anymore sadface)

4) i have really long hair that i’ve been growing out since 2012 but most of the time it’s in braids or a braid crown if im going outside

5) this mailbox is on the hill behind my roommates’ house. i dont know if this says anything about me but we couldnt resist taking a photo of it. we caught it on a rare rainy day in los angeles so you can see one lone tear running down this creature’s face a la crybaby

Hi anon!

I really wish I could have the hands to create such a chunky marvel, but it was a 3d print. My boyfriend got it for me to learn to paint miniatures

First word that comes to mind: poop (I’ve been dealing with a BIG ASS dog and his STUPID OWNER and there is literally shit all over my backyard that STINKS)  

What I last said to a family member:  “I'm snacking on lovely ginger chocolate!!!” (sent to Lethy on fb, this must have been why I googled Ginger?)

Am I allowed to say "Boots got boots!"? Because somebody has GOT to.

Yes! I haven't found THE boots yet. I have this fantasy that one day I will find THE boots and my life will be complete, and I will feel truly at home in my own feet. But today is not that day. Although I firmly believe that with every style of boots I try, I get one step closer to THE one pair. And these new boots seem pretty close.

Try lace-up ankle boots? They’re pretty and comfortable!

:D I've been looking for some that I like, that don't look like, um, hiking boots? You know? I don't really wear heels, so that gets to be a problem at times. But I am still on the lookout! 

Now I just need to re-train myself to wear shoes with tops. ::been wearing flip flops for 8 months straight::

I forgot I was supposed to do this. I’ll take a break from the dance movies for this. Ehehehe. Anyway, continuing my habit of answering these with random photos…

1) I’m a recent proud owner of silver shoes that blind people when I walk in sunlight

2) My mom taught me the sacred plucking chin hairs and then burning them ritual and so now I take photos whenever I do it and send them to her as proof that I’m keeping tradition alive.

3) This is how I braid my hair pretty much every day. Kind of a weird crown thing. Keeps it out of my face.

4) I have a thing for hotrods and roadsters. I go to car shows with my grandpa when I’m home. He wears these shoes that I painted to look like his 1941 Ford. (this is not his car this is a car in Pittsburgh when I went to a show because I was feeling homesick. It wasn’t the same…in a parking lot instead of an abandoned field surrounded by cows)

5) One time I went to the Library of Congress and took photos of the catalog cards. This one is my favorite.

Oh Look This Old Post Is Being Transformed Into An About Me Page

My grandma claims when I was little I would sit and stare at the ceiling for hours. In her version, I'm a great thinker, staring off into space and contemplating my existence. My memory tells a different story. The ceiling was never a blank stretch of white. I watched a city interconnected with roads. The bumps in my grandparents’ popcorn textured wall were energetic, breathing creatures interacting with each other and living full lives.

Basically, I tell stories. Always have. About anything.

Niamh calls me Boots, and now everyone else seems to too, and I rather like it, so I'm adopting it. I didn't know what to put here, so I stole my artist statement from college.

My goal in life is to be a pirate (freebooter for those not in the know). But in the meantime I'm a character artist. Fanfiction fandoms include Lord of the Rings/Hobbit, Batman, and apparently Being Human (didn't see that one coming). My hero is Diana Wynne Jones, and my one true love is Walt Disney. I know this because I have read every single one of his biographies I could get my hands on.

I've been crossed in love recently. I use obsessions over characters to distract myself from this. Sometimes things get weird. You have been warned.
