"I know it, because it's me."
I know I whine and bitch and complain a lot about cosplay on here so I thought I’d post some good news today. Here are my two Rebel Legion approved costumes of 2018 and 2019: Jakku Scavenger Rey and Senatorial Leia from the end scene of ESB! Next on my list are finishing my Training Rey, making a cloak for Battle of the Bastards Sansa (when I have time), tackling High Roller Qi'ra (aka Crimson Dawn Qi'ra) to finally be a 501st Legion Member, and my dream costume: Battle Rey from TLJ. Either this or next year then is finally Jedha Jyn’s turn (bc the vest still scares me xD)
A Princess Leia dress in progress
Behold my furry assistant (with his cute presents from @ensignrook)
I want to continue with my Leia outfit, but I have to wait until my additional fabric arrives.... /sigh
Eeeep my RL base is doing a troop at SW in Concert right near me !!! I hope enough of us are gonna sign up, SW in Concert as Rey would be awesome :D
reaching peak anxiety over my jakku rey cosplay.... i’m going for rebel legion so that means my costume has to conform to certain guidelines and standards. it will then be judged by judges specific for rey’s costume
i’ve already remade a bunch of parts from my old costume, but my old wraps are too short... and a different fabric that the one recommended. someone from rl said it would be alright, but of course that opinion varies from judge to judge.
and even if i can make the fabric work, the wrap is still not long enough. i need to insert more fabric into the loop part of the wrap and that won’t work without having another seam. And I don’t know if two seams in the loop are ok. Another thing for my #to figure out list
the wraps have to go down to the top part of the boots. i can’t make the wraps longer while i don’t have the boots. and i had to order po-zu boots which are the only ones that get approved without having to make ones myself which i could never do in a million years. and po-zus are $$$ :( One good thing though is that these boots are the same resistance and training rey wears, so i can use them again if/when i make those costumes. Hopefully i might be able to use the same belt for those too
my belt is another thing that is giving me grief. a) i have to work with leather paint to get it from beige to about chestnut. i have never worked with leather paint. b) the rl standards say D-hooks for the belt. i only managed to get rectangular hooks. i think i saw someone in the rey group on fb with rectangular ones and i just pray that’ll work
aaaand worst of all is the dyeing part..... i am mad crazy terrified of fucking up the dyeing part. because there are only so many tries when it comes to dyeing stuff. and i’m not 100% sure that i managed to get the right fabric dyes (althoug there is a rl rey i know which i could ask since she used the RIT dye and simplicol combo i have) and maybe i’ll have to try dyeing my fabrics with watered down acrylic paint. not the best idea....
now i just need to weather my blaster some more (shouldn’t be too much trouble, knock on wood), and weather my bag (now, that’s something i’m more worried about, weathering fabric is scary)
fingers crossed i don’t go crazy before this costume is finished
