I'm curious, how do you think Credence would respond to being introduced to the idea of nonbinary genders? Applied to himself, other people, whatever.

Honestly? He wouldn’t understand it one bit.

Oh, he’d do as asked, he’d be very good at keeping up with whatever pronouns and names were requested by a NB person, but between the time he grew up in and the environment he grew up in, it’s something he just cannot wrap his little brain around.

It’s not that he means to be ignorant or intolerant, he would try, oh, he would try so hard, but it just wouldn’t really compute.

As far as the idea of Credence being NB, I play him as being cis, so he certainly wouldn’t understand it in terms of himself.

Say it was a somewhat large animal? (Might be wanting to write a treeko from the last guardian. And hes like the size of three cars.)

Credence would honestly be scared witless. He’d run. Straight up he’d run. Credence is frightened of animals as small as cats or even mice, because historically speaking animals don’t like him(or rather, they don’t like the danger of the Obscurus, but he can’t discern the difference). So if a large animal came anywhere near him... Credence would freak, whether it was magical or not.

If he were to see a creature like this, prior to the film he’d run home and never speak of it again, and would do this every time he saw it, if he saw it again.

If this were to happen after, he would still run, but he’d run until he found Mr. Graves.

After... well I think he’d just plain run until he couldn’t anymore.

How do you think credence would react to finding an orphaned magical creature that wanted to follow him home?

That really depends- if this happened while he was still living under Mary Lou’s roof, he’d have been terrified both of it, and for it. He’d try his best to shoo it off, or even frighten it off if he had to, because Mary Lou would do far worse.

If it happened while he knew Percival Graves(be it the ‘real’ Graves or Gravelwald) he’d have immediately tried to find the man to take it in- He knows the man will know far better equipped to take care of something magical.

If it happened after canon events, in any of Credence’s post-canon verses, while he’d still be terrified of it, he’d also feel something like a kinship to it, and would do his best to take care of it until he could find a better home, despite his own fear of animals- he knows he’s far more dangerous, now, after all.
