(ooc: art by @kac29 -- i got rid of the mixed-type team for a bit because i was considering making Cypress an electric type specialist, but have now discarded that idea and have returned to the existence of Pistachio now renamed Douglas after the Douglas fir on his back wow how creative /sarcasm the torterra, Quasar the male staraptor and Baby the female bibarel.
Cypress adopted them from rescues (in the case of Saralee -- female, Dillon -- male, and Rodas -- male), and Douglas was given to her by someone whose grotle became an unexpected mom; Quasar was a wounded staravia who was found and nursed back to health by Cypress, and Baby was a hatchling abandoned by her mom for being a runt.)
(ooc, update feb. 24th 2022 -- things have changed!! Cypress is an electric type specialist prof. again, but y'know, just because a typing is your favorite doesn't mean you can't have other kinds.)
(ooc, update apr. 17th 2022 -- Cypress is now a native of a homebrew region based off the US State i live in: Texas. it's still in development but I'm having fun so far making up lore and fakemon. so, consider these Sinnohan 'mon to have been acquired after she moved to the new region for work.)

What are your parents' names?
Stanley Cypress and Jimena Alamilla (her given name is pronounced HEE-men-AH). They don't have the same surname anymore because they got divorced when I was eight.

Ceana's paternal grandma (Belinda Cafferty/"Grammy") got wind of her son not allowing her granddaughter to take on a typical kid trainer's journey and did something about it when Ceana was 11. If Stanley wasn't willing to keep an eye on her for the journey, then she would! She and Ceana had never been very close, so she saw it as a bonding opportunity.
As an adult Ceana of course, realized 11 years old was far too young to begin such a thing, and advocates for a minimum age of 15 for a kid to begin proving they're prepared to become a true trainer. But that's the present day. Back then, she just wasn't ready mentally for the intense responsibilities of caring for other life-forms by herself. Her first 'mon was the Leeno region's fire starter, a young male yotey.
She named it Ivan. Try as she might, Ivan was rowdy and didn't listen to her well, and this resulted in Ivan dying in a battle against a far stronger, fully-grown, wild arktofolio which had no mercy for little fools. Ceana was 12 and hadn't caught any other 'mon for her team, so she had to run for her life back to the nearest town. It scarred her badly, and even though she's worked past her fear of arktofolio since then, it's still a dark memory that she doesn't talk about much. The gentle lesson with the shuppet before fiercely paled compared to this.
Belinda had been waiting inside the PokéCenter of that town waiting for her grandkid to return from the local woods with a newly caught nyazome, as the girl had planned to do, only to be horrified at the state Ceana came back to her in. Ceana was mute for weeks. She resolved to not be a trainer anymore. After a year or so of psychological recovery, she tentatively focused on becoming a poké-professor (now 13 years old) instead, which became her new special interest.
Ceana spent years as the assistant of Professor Shumard (a lady then in her 40s, now she is 50) in the Leeno region, as part of her studies to become a prof. herself. Shumard was a bit of a hard-nosed person (though not unkind), believed in getting your hands dirty with hard work, kinda like how Peach (@prof-peach) is, except Shumard is better with people in general than Peach -- no offense lol, and she has never worked out like Peach does, so she isn't buff either. Anyway, Ceana learned a lot of valuable life lessons and academic and field lessons from Shumard.

tentatively going with the idea that Ceana is 30 years old, instead of my 25 years old irl currently (my birthday is June 22nd so i'll be 26 soon!). this just makes more sense to me because she has gotten so far by now, that kinda stuff takes real work, time and elbow grease to get to. bear with me as i develop the timeline of her past pls.
Update!!:// ...It's happening! Cypress has always been partially pink-haired now. xD Consider old artwork of her on this blog that shows completely dark-brown hair to be simply relics of ye olde outdated past lol.
Life updates
Facebook says we became friends 5 years ago today. Well today I declare you history. Cypress and I are going on another date next weekend. We are not committed in any way but we are going to attempt to move forward. On that note there are many troubling signs with her, things I thought I'd never hear again. I made it through my first week of classes. My friends are dope af. The outdoor activities are super fun and I live for them.
