This is part of the Doll and Darling series. The thought was--what would happen if Darling got the upper hand somehow over John and got to get her revenge. What would that look like

Kyle and Simon would have to be gone (Simon on the 5 year anniversary of Johnny's death. He never was the same. Kyle left for the mountains, hasn't looked back since) otherwise they would step in as power of attorney in some way. So let's imagine they're both out of the picture.
John has a stroke. It leaves him unable to communicate. He can't speak or write. He's clearly agitated but Darling explains it off, He's always been so independent. This is such a shock. He just needs time and quiet, and the doctors agree. So they let Mrs. Price take Mr. Price home in a wheelchair with care instructions and declined caretakers assistance.
Everything as it should be.
Until they get to the house.
The kids are still with their grandparents so that would give Darling the whole weekend to spend with John.
However she wanted.
I think Darling would get her lick in. It would be cooed condescension, Poor husband, are you upset about something? and irate tirades, You did this! This is all your fault! in turns. There's no way Darling doesn't have a few screws loose after all this time with John.
So she would rant and rave villain monologue style in front of John, pacing back and forth, hands in her hair, tear marks streaking her cheeks and a maniacal grin interspersed with anguished sobbing.
John would be rolling his eyes if he could, slurring out approximations of words get off her high horse and go get his parents.
I think she'd come to a realization then.
John would have to die for her to have any sort of life.
After that, all bets would be off on what she would do to him. She would certainly pay him back in any way she could for how she had been treated over the years.
I think Darling would be quite cruel in the end.
And once she was done--off down the way to pick up the children before they ran. She would take those babies and flee for the hills in hopes that no one would ever find them.
