YESSSS god I love this one!!!

So the surface level reason is of course, Carry On Wayward Son! And the line “Now your life’s no longer empty / Surely heaven waits for you” vibes really hard with Deborah because it’s actually getting out of the supernatural world and meeting Isaac and having Ruth that makes her life feel less empty!

Slightly below the surface is of course, the Winchesters and their holy war! Like her brothers, Deborah’s destiny was supposed to be pre-ordained but she threw it off the moment she left John Winchester’s crusade! But she still has a destiny that she is supposed to fulfill in the apocalypse and that whole mess!

on the deepest level, Deborah has a very strong connection to heaven that we learn about down the line! It’s a v big spoiler but her life has been significantly more affected by heaven and the angels and their idea for her destiny than even she knows!

oooh okay so this is v early on like at the very beginning but when the boys first show up to ask for Deborah’s help, she struggles a lot because on one hand, she has a husband and a child and she doesn’t want to leave them, she doesn’t want to be John always putting a hunt before his kids, but at the same time if it is the same thing that killed Mary and now has killed Sam’s girlfriend, that puts her family in so much danger that how can she not try to kill it? So she talks to Isaac and he’s so sweet and reassuring telling her to do whatever she needs to do and he’ll take care of Ruthie 🥺

(but also the way that the first season changes how Deb sees John is going to be so much)
