What’s your opinion on Echo? I personally think she’s a good character but I think her and B’s relationship works better as like supportive friends? I feel like her character was kinda washed out after s5 so 6x06 was good bc I feel like she was more true to herself away from Bellamy like he can kinda overpower her in a scene? Idk maybe that’s just me
Once I’ve shortly said that I had hard time with her, so now I will extend this speech.
The very first experience with her in Mount Weather wasn’t good? I mean, she wasn’t good or bad then. But her attitude, survival, but also clearly a head. She was a strategist back then. And also quite limited one?
She helped Bellamy kill Lovejoy, and bless. Yet it wasn’t enough for me.
When we meet her again as she tricks everyone, even Bellamy who kinda freed her and her people from MW, she messes with Bellamy, Pike etc just to lead to blowing MW for Nia.
Now after her short story in 6x04 we know she owed her. Yet it kinda sucks that Gina happened to be there while this happened. It should mean something, give something bigger to the plot. But it didn’t.
Then, season 4, we know Echo was in the COL, and she threatens Clarke who saved their ass and if someone should have had a sword on their throat, it was Jaha. Not Clarke.
She attempted to kill Clarke a couple of times not entirely for Azgeda, yet the end of season 4 was purely for Azgeda and Roan. Loyal to him and not necessarily for the conclave. She gets banished anyway and back then I was glad. I hated her and the way she limited her view to Roan only.
The 100 made fun of loyal people, making Echo low-key dumb back then, not gonna lie. She manipulated Roan, who knew better. I think she could’ve been much better created back then.
And woah, after that banishment (double banishment if i may) we should feel sorry for her. But I only slightly did? She has built this wall herself. She played with the fate of human race and her clan. Out of loyalty, but wasn’t headed enough.
Echo loses a sight of where does she belong after all. We know it in s4 finale. I found it a weak move, because I had no idea who Echo was before this “spy for Azgeda” thing. If they had showed us a bit of her way earlier, maybe she would have been more acceptable for me.
Yet she helped spacekru to get up in the sky in the end, helped with the air on the ring. Kinda good sign.
Then season 5… Let’s not talk about her relationship with Bellamy then, please.
I remember that I kind off broke my wall for her, when she decided not to tell defectors’ names to Octavia. She chose to be banished for others not to be killed. Good move.
THEN this Raven Echo Shaw thing messed up with me. She betrayed Raven and went too deep in her spy role. Again, from loyalty. But to whom? She gets behind the wheel when Bellamy is in the battlefield and it’s fair. She is the head after all, been to battles and knows it from her life experience.
Fight with Clarke, btw not approving this Madi kidnapping, was on point. That’s how betrayed, almost-lost-my-lover-because-of-you Echo should react.
And then, their talk. AFTER that, I start to see her. I see who Echo is. What are her priorities. And she cooperates. She bonds with Clarke on some taking-care-of-Bellamy level. And also Echo sees who Clarke is, unlike others.
She seems to be very out of place sometimes, for example her totally interrupting story in 6x04 that should be left for other time. But after 6x06, I start to see her through. Better than through her story. Her acts and reacts speak for themselves.
For now, Echo is welcomed in the house and proves, that you don’t have to drag past behind you when you see what is here and now. She sees that Clarke cares while others are all over her. She was the last person to suspect that kind of understanding, but now it’s her.
(send my theory/meta asks and i’ll spill the tea)
