Education: Gotham University. Previously Gotham Central High School. Recipient of the Wayne Enterprises Scholarship Fund which continues to pay for her education.
Family: Mother - Maria Williams: Has a history of illness. Lives with her best friend.
Father - Rafe Williams: Currently in Blackgate Penitentiary. Walked out on Grace’s Mom when Grace was nine. This is a sore point for Grace.
Grace is an only child and doesn’t know any of her extended family.
Financial situation: Poor/not well off. She has her own place in a high rise apartment building found in the Crime Alley District but uses thrift shops and food banks regularly. Very frugal.
Hobbies: Volunteers at the main shelter in Park Row. Crochet.
Vices: Sickeningly sweet coffee. Smoking. Frequents night clubs and bars when stressed. Looks for one night stands when in the mood.
Character traits: Believes The System™ can work (verse dependant), indifferent to Batman and Batman adjacents, likes kids but doesn't want any of her own (verse dependant), will not get pregnant, usually tired, assertive, sex-positive, trusting until proven otherwise, hard working, caring, short tempered when stressed, hates being underestimated or looked down on, jealous of those who don't have to work for what they want, defensive about her background, frugal with money most of the time, keen to help others and naïve.
Clothing/style: Gets all her clothes from thrift shops. Usually wears at least one thing that is denim at all times. If at the hospital or the clinic, she will be wearing scrubs. Wears glasses when reading/studying for any length of time.

Main Verse - Paying it forward: Grace was about to become another high school drop out when one of her teachers realised what kind of situation she was in. They applied for a scholarship on Grace's behalf which she was lucky enough to be accepted for. Not only did they cover her tuition fees both for high school and for university which is common knowledge, what many don't know is that the scholarship also ensured the rent would be paid on their family apartment so that Grace didn't need to work to support her sick mother with the bills. She is pretty sure without their help, her mom wouldn't be here and she'd be living on the streets. Though grateful for the opportunities the scholarship has provided, Grace feels as though she has to constantly prove herself worthy of the support and make the most of it, oftentimes working herself into the ground to do so.
As a recipient of the Wayne Scholarship Fund, she is sometimes invited to the charity balls and galas where she is paraded around as a success story; An example of where their money has gone. Grace has mixed feelings about these events, but if it means that Gotham's Elite will keep paying into the scheme and more people like herself are given a helping hand, then it's worth it.
Grace wants to become a nurse and is in her 3rd year of medical school with a residency at Gotham General Hospital. She also is a long time volunteer at one of the main shelters in Park Row which she and her mother have relied on heavily in the past. Most recently, she has been working with Dr Thompkins at her clinic in the evenings as a way to use her medical training to give back to her own community and learn new skills along the way. When her mother is ill then she has to take some time off of her extra curricular work, but always goes back as soon as she can.
AU verse - a darker timeline: An AU where Grace doesn’t get a scholarship from Wayne Enterprises. A timeline where she dropped out of school and tried to do what she could to keep the roof over her and her mom’s head. It doesn’t work. The deteriorating living conditions worsen her Mom’s health and Grace finds herself an orphan at age 17. It’s easy enough to dodge the care system until she’s aged out and they don’t care anymore, not that they cared much in the first place.
Another sad statistic from Crime Alley, Grace is bitter, guarded. She picks up what work she can: restaurants, bars, clubs. When she can’t, she takes to the streets to find a John. Most nights she manages to have a roof over her head. But there’s always a catch, always a price. Gotham did what Gotham does best, Grace is focused on survival.
AU Verse (with @mr007pennyworth) - trust me I'm a doctor: Grace William’s has been known to Alfred for just over two years when she became Leslie’s assistant in the clinic. It’s a drizzling Wednesday afternoon when Alfred calls feeling unwell and Grace left to her own devices, with Leslie out of town leave’s the quiet clinic on the older Doctor’s advice to see to Bruce Wayne’s Butler.
Alfred turns out to be a whole knew world for her career and for her life in general, offering her a part time job as his emergency care nurse, meaning Grace is about to become the newest member of the bat family that she didn’t realize Alfred worked for. As gentle natured and charming the butler can be, the solid rock of a ex-marine can be stubborn and Grace must over come hurdles she’s never faced beside him as he leads her through the regular pitfalls and trials of a life in the manor. Finding there’s so much more to the man behind the white smile and generous wallet, can Grace cement herself into the heart of our Alfred and hold her nerve when Alfred relapses and all hell breaks loose both behind the door’s of Wayne manor and outside them?

so i was writing and got involved and misread the clock and and missed gotham and now i have to wait 'til it's available somewhere to see it. it's okay, not like i'd been waiting months for this or anything.
