So how did Wheatley and Lolani meet? Is that a thing you're saving for the comic?
(This is probably going to be really long lol I'm sorry)
This is an old ask and I’ve been waiting to answer this one because it took a lot of thought. I don’t have everything set in stone entirely. Because like there’s different dimensions and timelines and stuff, I’m still trying to tie everything together. Honestly if I just took the time to sit down and brainstorm, I probably could easily do so. But usually how I come up with stuff is I’m just going through my day to day life, think of something randomly and be like “oh that’s cool. How can I expand on this”. But basically here’s what I have so far.
I haven’t explained wheatley’s backstory entirely, which I’m hesitant to do so or not since that’s a huge chunk of the story and has a whole lot of spoilers. But honestly at this point I have no idea if and when I’ll make the Madman’s Advocate an official comic. One day yeah, but I don’t feel like my art is currently at the level it needs to be. Since I’ll be doing it all myself with no help basically. Maybe once I graduate college. Which is about 3 years lol
Anyways. I’ll explain Wheatley’s life in another post with a drawing I plan to do. But basically Lani and Wheatley went to school together. James put Wheatley through school while he was still being experimented on. James wanted this powerful entity he was making to be some what educated right? Wheatley wasn’t able to tell anyone what was going on at home. Or what James was working on because things would turn to shit fast. Really what could the police do to stop this tampering with the fabric of reality stuff James was doing.
Either way, Wheatley started off as this cheerful funny kid. He was the boy that made stupid jokes in class or cheered people up with his humor or presence. In no way was he grumpy or mean like he ended up becoming later on (there’s a reason he changed too). Lani and him were acquaintances, they were both interested in each other through out the years but neither of them made the final step to really befriend each other. Wheatley didn’t really have feelings for girls but seeing lani made his chest feel so weird he didn’t know why he felt that way.
But throughout the years of school, lani noticed that Wheatley was changing. Becoming taller, stronger (The big growth spurt happened in high school). But his constant smile started to fade. His personality faded. He no longer talked to others, he pulled away, shut down, pushed away all his friends; refused to talk to anyone. It was so strange to lani that he was changing so much so she then went out of her way to befriend him. But he was stubborn and wouldn’t budge.
Eventually he became like intimidating due to his height, strength and constant scowl. He wasn’t freakishly tall but still super tall for his age at the time. Basically everyone stayed clear of him and that’s what he wanted. Because he was tired of forming bonds, opening up his heart because doing so only hurt him. Turning off his emotions allowed him to get through the experiments his dad was putting him through.
Even though he wouldn’t let lani in, deep down he still liked her. He was grumpy but let her walk with him and talk to him. But like senior year of high school he suddenly disappears. No explanation. Lani’s concerned but she can’t find any proof he’s still alive. Until there’s news that the Konrad family all died in a freak accident explosion at their home (wheatley’s family. He his real name was Malakai Konrad. But you should never ever call him Malakai. It becomes a trigger word). This was when James got killed. Wheatley and his mom are alive. But he fakes their death so him and his mom can start fresh.
His mom and him live happily for a few months but then shit hits the fan again, wheatley’s mom dies. Shit goes down. Wheatley’s completely broken. He’s lost everything. So he again starts fresh, and decides to find Giovanni wherever he is in the world. Because Gio was originally the person that made Wheatley the way he was. Wheatley wanted an explanation.
A few years pass. Lani’s in college now, studying to get a major in Cryptidzoology. This is where I have room to change things up. I haven’t decided where or how it happens because I have a bunch of fun little AUs. But Lani and Wheatley end up running into eachother again. It may just be at a coffee shop or over some big event where there’s a monster or danger or something idk. But they see eachother wheatley’s immediately thinking “oh no. That’s Lani. Why is my chest feeling like this again. Time to leave’And Lani’s like "omg Malakai is that y—”Wheatley huffs angrily kinda upset she used his old name “MALAKAI IS FUCKING DEAD.”Wheatley wears this Star Trek captain’s emblem pin on his coat; he always has. Once Lani spots that and see’s Wheatley throw his fit, she immediately knows it’s him. And yeah. They fall in love and their story continues! ^^
