During the Silver Millennium, Nephrite was one of the Four Heavenly Kings who served Prince Endymion as a general and advisor, also known as the Knight of Intelligence and Comfort. His uncanny skill with astrology made him a keen strategist, and a powerful complement to Kunzite’s intuitive command, though he was considered third ranking under Zoisite.
Despite having feelings for Sailor Jupiter, Nephrite still ultimately was uneasy with the idea of an “alliance” between Earth and the Silver Millennium kingdoms, seeing an uncomfortable power imbalance. It was these concerns that Beryl twisted until she was able to fully brainwash him, making him believe he was protecting his kingdom and his prince when he was actually betraying him. Tragically, it was only witnessing the death of Sailor Jupiter that jerked him out of the mind control, and by then he was already dying, his last tortured thoughts of how he had betrayed his loved ones.
When Queen Serenity wished for a second chance for her daughter and her senshi, she extended it not only to Endymion but also his Shitennou. He was reborn as Nathan Sterling in the United States, not far from where he had originally been born as Nephrite.
A gifted student, Nathan was given the opportunity to study abroad when he finished high school and chose Tokyo on an impulse he didn’t fully understand. It was there that he met Beryl once again. Without knowledge of his past, he had no defenses against her power and was thoroughly brainwashed into serving her as one of her generals.
The reunion with the other Shitennou vaguely stirred his memories, but they were twisted into a parody of the truth, only remembering having served Beryl before. Seeing Sailor Jupiter was a sense of familiarity, but it was only once Mamoru reawakened as Endymion that he regained his full memory as one of the Four Heavenly Kings. Unfortunately, with the strengthened Metallia behind her, Beryl was able to drag him back under her control.
Ironically, Nephrite fell to Sailor Jupiter’s attack, his spirit captured in a piece of nephrite jade and given to the brainwashed Endymion along with the stones of the other Shitennou. With their memories restored, they appear at various times as spirits to advise, encourage, and help him as they once did.
Eventually, when Mamoru retrieves the Golden Crystal, Nephrite and the other Shitennou are revived in their reincarnations once more. Needless to say, it takes some explaining to merge back into civilian life, and the Shitennou stay together, living quietly in the background and watching their prince from afar.
Description:
Nathan is the second tallest Shitennou at 6’1, built lean like the rest of them but with broader shoulders. His brown hair falls in loose waves down to midback, and tends to have a maroon sheen in the sunlight. His eyes are a deep sapphire blue, and extremely expressive. He keeps his ears pierced with small studs, usually some shade of green and often actual pieces of jade. Most of the time, he prefers well fitted clothing that shows off his hard earned physique.
As Beryl’s general, he wears a blue-gray suit with yellow trim. As a Shitennou, he also wears a silver cape with jade clasps.
45. How do other people see them? Is it similar to how they see themselves?
Super detailed questions about your OCs
Nephrite
//Most people see them as very uptight and no fun at all. And that’s not how they see themselves at all. Sure they take/took their duties very seriously, but they absolutely love to goof around and stuff. They’re generally more of a listener and are thoughtful, which could be taken differently
Heliodor
//He’s often seen as very confident, sometimes to the point of being cocky, always down to do things even if they’re reckless as shit. He is confident, but only to a certain extent. A lot of it is quite exaggerated because he doesn’t want to be seen as insecure or unable to handle things. But for the second part yeah he’s pretty reckless actually LOL
29. What do they do when they find out someone else’s fear? Do they tease them? Or get very over protective?
Super detailed questions about your OCs
Nephrite
They usually try to reassure whoever it is that it’s okay to be afraid. But at the same time, they might try to help the person get over whatever fear they have. Neph means well, but sometimes it’s better for them to just let it be.
Heliodor
Nine times out of ten the shithead is going to tease about the phobia. The tenth being a really REALLY bad fear and he knows to hold back. Still, teasing or not you know he’s gonna joke about it and be protective (”Don’t worry about x fear, if it ever comes within a thousand miles of you I’ll fight it!”)
For every 🌟 I receive, I’ll share one fun fact about the muse. //WHY NOT BOTH LMAO
Like Sunstone, Heliodor enjoys to eat food, and is a pretty adventurous eater. He’ll probably eat something without even knowing what it is, to be honest. Unlike my smol orange Gem, however, he cannot cook for the life of him. Like at all. Majority of the time it just ends up very overcooked.
Despite enjoying nature, Neph sometimes gets uncomfortable when they’re in forests. Especially ones where they can barely see the sky or straight up not see it at all. If they’re in the woods, you’ll probably find them up in some tree; it feels better that way.
Neither of them have ever dressed in anything besides their HW/Pilot uniforms. The most that’s different is Heliodor’s Aviator Jacket and Pilot Helmet+Goggles, and Neph’s Visor. When they become fully Renegade Gems, I imagine they’ll probably both expermiment A LOT with their fashion/style which is a neat way of me saying I don’t know yet what their fashion sense is LMAO
10. Are they a fusion/Do they have a favorite fusion to be part of?
Nope, neither of them are a fusion. Fun fact though!! Heliodor was a fusion of my Sunstone and another Gem! :0
The two put together have only fused a handful of times, those being for emergency situations. The only time they have fused for a non-emergency is actually also they only time the two of them fused together. They haven’t gotten to do it again since
11. What is their opinion on the concept of fusion?
Heliodor doesn’t really see it as much beyond a battle tactic, but the reason why is because he has almost never seen it for anything else but that. Fusing with Neph that one time has sort of left him questioning on that opinion, though.
Neph is pretty hesitant/nervous about it. They know they’re not under Homeworld anymore, but the whole “Fusion is only for emergencies and can only be between the same Gems.” thing is kinda drilled into their head. Still, they want to experience more of it, both to get out of their comfort zone and also to break more from that mindset
