Quick update on the Kat, in that I am having a lot of brain fog and a lot of pain, and it makes RP (and writing in general) difficult. I'm lurking, enjoying seeing you guys in action. I do, finally, have some answers that may help me get back in gear.

To the few of you that have followed me in this time, I wanted to say please don't think this is specific to you disinterest. I will be checking you out as well. That said, not until my brain is more reliably online alas.

Relationship Memes (for those who haven't met!)

Okay so I saw a post reblogged a few times from various moots SO, I was inspired~ to make a meme that encourages cross overs and rare pairs - ships that barely know each other, or don't know each other, or couldn't know each other.

Sender sends in a muse or three that they play, and have written up at least a short bio for -- required for OCs unless the receiver knows the OCs well + the phrase for whatever scenarios

PLEASE DO NOT FLOOD THE RECIPIENT IN A SINGLE ASK!!!

Recipient suggests either (1) a rare pair from their muse list --single muse blogs can also promote their other blogs, if they have them-- or, if you're already threading those characters, (2) suggest a relationship you haven't tried. Most of these can also be platonic.

Arranged Marriage = strangers in an arranged marriage

Contract = someone has very specific, very needed skills and has been paid to use them.

Date Auction = +S if you want the sender to be auctioned, +R if you want the receiver to be auctioned

Fake Dating = any reason, the more absurd the better

Found Family = mostly platonic here, familial bonds without blood ties

Jailed = tossed in jail together but not for the same "crime" (could be same type, but they're just now meeting each other)

On Watch = could be kids, could be apprentices, could be pets, etc

Meltdown = someone you don't really know is having a meltdown. It's awkward at best but no one should be alone with that.

Penpals = assigned? community arrangement? got a letter sent to you in error and ended up sending one back? your call

Portal = you just got spat out into a world that's not your own... and are at the mercy of who finds you.

Reach: The Smol = helps the taller muse get or do something at a lower level

Reach: The Tol = helps the shorter muse get something they can't reach

Roommates = ohmygod they're roommates! And they never met before, at best there was a requirements letter sent out. (Specify if they get along or not.)

Stuck: Elevator = stuck in an elevator with each other for at least five hours

Stuck: Storm = took shelter together in the same place during a storm

Teammates = newly assigned team mates for whatever. Combat? Flag football? Three legged race? You decide.

Weird Together = share an unusual hobby and meet because of it

Feel free to add more in reblogs! And whoever you reblog it from, toss one to them! It doesn't have to become a starter, it can just be a fleshed out scenario.

So I know I haven't put Weskham out there (FFXV, Chocobro 1.0, Regis' Hand)

But. I have to share a ridiculous headcanon I came up with on a whim and now live by:

He's married to the Queen of Thieves, and they have three daughters,

one Nyx/Libertus/Crowe's age

one Noct/Prom's age (surprise one)

one a closer to Talcott's age (surprise two)

Obvs I would not impose / it does not fit in every verse, but I am enjoying it so much I had to put it out there.

I need to finish his bio... he'd be fun to pop in on numerous FFXV people (particularly the Chocobros 1.0 -- Regis, Clarus, Cor, Cid) but Ignis would also be a delight, as would the other children / grandchildren of his friends. I picture him heavily versed in Lucis' history, so he might be... interesting, for Ardyn too (or Somnus, I know we have at least 1 excellent Somnus with a "modern day" verse in the RPC, you know who you are). And others, but those are the "obvious" ones I think...

Would anyone even be interested, with or without his ridiculous family? (Can you imagine how much easier life would be on Regis if he had a Hand, and also backup from the Queen of Thieves?)

I'll add him regardless but that would speed up my priority for doing it...

"I was hoping you would be amenable to the idea. I could ...do part of the recon myself but, I couldn't go out into the field obviously. I'm not too equipped for that. My creation is though and could tag along with you to make the job easier." Reeve commented with a smile before a small, black and white bipedal cat strolled into the room. Its tail moving slightly and ears twitching some at the sounds in the room.

"This is Cait Sith. Probably one of my most interesting and in-depth creations." The director mentioned with a slight gesture of his hand towards the little guy. Cait Sith himself hopped over towards Genesis looking the man up and down slightly. "Well aren't ye an interestin' one." Whiskers twitched some as it spoke in a charming little accent.

Genesis' demeanor shifted slightly in equal parts curiosity and intrigue as he viewed the strange... creation. Creation? So some sort of robot or hyper advanced automated being. Interesting.

"I could say the same to you," he pointed out. "I can't say I've seen the like of you before."

Not that Genesis was seriously technical; he was good at what he needed to do, and a little more, but most of it was specialized knowledge and none of it lent itself to robotics.

A strange instinct had him addressing Cait Sith instead of Reeve, and if pressed he couldn't really have explained why. "So, Cait Sith, what skills do you bring to the table, if you're to come with me?"

He didn't question his instincts; they generally led him down the correct path.

Verse Notes: Dr. Rhapsodos

Have I talked about this? I feel like I've talked about this but I'm going to talk about it some more.

Genesis Rhapsodos, academia aus! Setting: denied entry into SOLDIER at the last second by a nurse who has ethics, Genesis buries himself in academics instead. By the time Hollander finds out, Gen's in Junon and this goes one of two ways.

if he was aware of the nature of degradation, this immune disorder lying dormant in his system that mako would have awakened, he goes for a medical doctorate, specifically in immunology. LOTS of potential there for dealing with SOLDIER from the other side, or later on with Geostigma as he'd have made more progress (experimenting on himself) than most could offer.

OR.

Unaware of the depth of the problem and the severity of the bullet he just dodged, Genesis heads to college in Junon to pursue mako science as a doctorate and minors in materia science along the way. In the same amount of time it took him to become First, he masters many facets of materia under the academic gaze -- all he's missing is the power he could have had... or is he? SOLDIER may not have taken him in, but he's suddenly of interest to almost everyone else.

I have no current threads for either of these but am intrigued in looking into where they might go. Consider this a soft starter while I work on my other threads. (Specify Immunology or Mako Science, if interested; I'll contact you for further planning.)

So we all saw the bs that they actually quite swiftly pulled back from but idk. It sounded a lot to me like placating us for now while intending to try something new, probably without consulting their userbase. Again.

As a TLDR statement: barring a better alternative, I will be here until they render this site unusable, make no mistake. I'm also considering Pillowfort. But.

I got my fandom start on FFN, Geocites and some obscure forums, so I have this free little thing that I am putting together for fandom and original works and yes, of course, the RPC.

I very seriously doubt it'd get big and as a mod team of 1 I'm happy with that. I'll keep you up to date as things progress, just in case there's passive interest. If nothing else, there will be a place where you can go and find other people in a "find me where" type situation. So we're never really cut off from people we haven't added on a messaging system or more personal ways.

Giving you a little preview of how the boards are laid out beneath the cut. Just writing up some documentation, should be in gear for anyone who does want to check it out within the next few days.

There's an almost childlike fascination in his eyes as he listened to Melodia's tales of the worlds beyond, humming in thought. Oh, how he wished he could see the world beyond Gaia!

And she mentioned friends too, or at least that's what he thought they were.

"Ah... are Atenacius and Valen friends of yours, then?" The names were foreign to him, and he was probably butchering the pronunciation, but he'd give it a good go at least. "You've definitely travelled far. I suppose it would be rude to deny you the chance to travel with me and see the sights here."

"Atenacius was a colleague," Mel said, testing the word and nodding in agreement with herself. "We lived at the same time. Interacted now and again. He was guardian of East Heaven's kingdom... I didn't want to be tied down. Ironic, in the end.

"Valen was also a colleague, but not a peer. Not at the time; at the time he was much more powerful than I was," she explained. "A vile man who thirsts for power like a dying reed thirsts for water. Well. Past-tense, I suppose. He, like Atenacius, is dead now. We're lucky the whole of the world didn't crumble in the process."

She waved it off like it wasn't the extraordinarily dangerous mess it had been; the child had succeeded, and with it had put the threat of Valen and his Dewprism to rest.

"I would not ask any such thing of course, to intrude upon your time and person." She smiled all the same. "But if it's offered, I can only say 'yes'."

Time was looping. Something had broken in the fabric of reality, because Aerith had walked this path before. She knew where these steps led. Distantly, she understood she was supposed to be here...

But, it felt wrong.

Or maybe she was just scared. And alone. Again.

Kneeling at the sacred altar, her breath shook a little as she bowed her head to pray. This was her life's purpose, right? If not her, then her mother would have knelt on this holy ground. She could feel that truth. In a small way it was comforting.

Slowly, in a whisper of ancient song, the stir of Holy began to summon. She was just half of what she was supposed to be. A droplet that barely cast a ripple in an ocean...

Distantly, that ripple was felt.

With His awakening, the circle shattered.

Time was no longer beholden to loop back on itself. The ouroboros had bitten off its own tail, and there was a violent thrash as time splintered and desperately knitted back together. It wasn't Aerith's blood that painted the altar, not this time.

The Lifestream had a musical presence, to those who knew how to listen for it. The echoing discord that had overtaken it was unexplainable, but he pushed past it to go, to seek, to find--

There.

A young woman in clothes that did not befit an oracle, priestess or summoner, nor were they very familiar in general. But she was unmistakably summoning the Cetra's last defense, Holy. It had not been fully written, in his time; it had been created by the few surviving materia crafters, just the one, and hidden with a modest family. Long ago, he felt.

But Holy was not discordant, nor was it used lightly, which meant...

Movement caught Ardyn's eye and he saw the flash of metal amidst a blur of black. The intention was clear, and he didn't hesitate. He called his blade to hand and blurred the distance between himself and the woman, just in time. A harsh, violent sweep tore through the thrall's body as easily as its clothes, and the shell of him fell to the wayside, blood spattering the altar.

He looked back to the girl, the... she wasn't a trained summoner, but she was summoning, and what more mattered?

He licked his lips, sure he didn't speak her language, and tapped at the Lifestream to give him words to communicate. "Are you... well?"

They felt foreign in his mouth, but Knowledge filtered in slowly. He had words now. "The Calamity's thrall is no threat now. But there will be others."

There was a little spark of mischief in Reeve's eyes for a second. "Maybe rough up some ne'er do wells for me? Seeing as I am ill-equipped otherwise." Reeve chuckled a little bit as he eased back into his chair. "In all seriousness though -- I do have a few matters with stolen materials I am pressed about. Some of these were raw materials and others already fabricated as well." It was a whole mess and a half. "I might have a decent idea of who did it but, the problem is interception and retrieving my things. And so I am going to need your expertise."

Genesis' lips curled into a little smirk, appreciating that there-and-gone mischief he knew he hadn't imagined in Director Tuesti's eyes. Perhaps this would be... entertaining.

"So, to be clear: possible infiltration, definite intimidation, necessary interception and then retrieval," Genesis counted it off on his fingers with a smile. "Not my usual fare at all, but I think that might be interesting. Spread my wings a little.

"As a Second," he clarified, "I'd done reconnaissance, before people knew me at a glance. But I could still dress down in numerous ways to make myself less obviously me, if necessary. Since that was probably what you were assuming you'd get."

Lazard just had a way of assessing things differently. It usually paid off, in his experience.

"Some of the raw materials used for my department have been stolen, unfortunately. Seems like a lot of the departments have been targeted off and on, but Urban Development has had a rough go of it. And since I have just assumed leadership of this department I wanted to be more proactive into stopping this nonsense." Reeve explained with a little hand gesture here and there while he spoke. Seeing how things were ramping up around Midgar he didn't wish to have the previous man's hard work, or his own, go down the tubes because of this incidents.

"Also -- no need to apologize, Genesis. For someone of your station being on this kind of duty must appear a little low bar." The man gave a casual self-deprecating kind of chuckle.

Yes, that was exactly what he'd thought, but now that the director was saying as much it didn't sit right. He shouldn't think that. Not if he was really a man worth the effort and manpower Lazard was offering him.

"It's a little odd," he said instead. "Generally, you know, I'm out painting the fields red and taking down ShinRa's harder to kill enemies. Things that demand my strength more than... this."

He shrugged and waved it off. "Regardless, if my director says this is worth my time, I'm open to finding out what he means by that. As you say, it must appear a little low bar... that doesn't mean it is."

He leaned back in the chair, for all the world looking like he was lounging. "So tell me what I can do about this."
