Regarding Tsuna’s treatment
I’m going to highlight some parts that are important to me/ I want to make noticed if it already isn’t. Feel free to discuss them or add on anything. Your opinions are always welcome so long as they aren’t said in a degrading manner.
Overall Respect- It has occurred to me that throughout the series Tsuna doesn’t receive very much respect when regarding his personal opinion. It usually gets brushed off or goes unacknowledged by Reborn and many other characters.
Gokudera Hayato- He is known for giving Tsuna admiration and respect the most out of anyone in the series. However several occasions prove he isn’t the best at personal respect. He admires Tsuna as a boss but on certain requests such as not blowing up the entire school or going off on others they go ignored. Some of it is his personality but usually Tsuna’s opinion on becoming Tenth is pushed aside with words such as “you’ll be a great boss” which guilt him in a sense to fulfilling that role.
Sawada Nana- Often times she doesn’t seem to notice her child’s opinion or the fact he is often bullied for the same things she degrades him on. Sports, grades, attitude. She calls him her “no-good son” at several points and puts her feelings on how Tsuna should be and expectations on his shoulders. Whether it’s of good intention or she doesn’t notice, her son resorts to not even trying because of being constantly told what he’s doing is not good enough.
Sawada Iemitsu- He does not listen to his son at all. He forces many expectations and roles on Tsuna in his opinion of what his ideal son should look like. He’s often not around and when he is he always does his best to put Tsuna on the spot.
Reborn- Also does not listen Tsuna except on make or break situations. Often passes off Tsuna’s emotions as being weak whilst forcing him to do lots of outrageous training and degrades him by calling him “Dame (no-good) Tsuna” just as many of his peers. Ultimately comes off as overbearing.
There are several others I won’t delve into but it saddens me that throughout the series Tsuna doesn’t have much of a voice. Only on the times where he is to make situation/life altering decisions in which all responsibility is placed heavily on his shoulders. Sure it was first a gag manga, sure it’s funny or helps with character development but isn’t it also sad? He may be an anime character but it breaks my heart that he is often treated such a way.
