Severine used to have a safehouse. It was an apartment that she kept in Ul'dah. A warehouse that had been completely outfitted to be a comfortable, quiet, private and safe place to stay or for other people to stay. She let someone stay there. Someone she thought was a friend. And they made it an unsafe place. She abandoned the safehouse after deliberation - there were a lot of good memories in that weird little space. But it didn't serve its intended purpose anymore. And that purpose was safe. Now she has another place that she can call safe. She's collected them now. Any number of little hideaways and homes. But this one? This one's just for her.

BETTER WITH AGE; SEVERINE

Describe your muse at ages 20, 40, and 60!

20— Only recently rescued from a less-than-ideal situation and finally out of the Black Shroud, Severine still vacillates between teenage moodiness. Cheerful and energetic one moment, sulking and angry the next. She doesn’t throw herself into the Red Mage training of her mentor so much as she allows herself to be drug through with minimum resistance. From lack of options she clings to the ideals taught to her and forges strong friendships and bonds to replace those connections of family that she had only recently lost.

40— The two decades after setting out on her own were a rough series of highs and lows for Severine. (Are, she’s still in her 30s now). Throwing herself into her own little criminal empire, meeting the person who would become the axis on which her world spins, and figuring out just where she fits in the place she help creates are all things that occupy her walking hours. Given the opportunity to confront the loose ends of her past… she doesn’t. Instead choosing to drown in a supportive haze of alcohol and her own rigorous self-righteousness. Re-discovering her love for public performance helps her to begin finding her way back to accepting love and support. Though it’s hardly an easy journey.

60— Confronting her past allows her to move into her present and future. With old nightmares finally put to rest, Severine stops trying to hide the darkness that shaped her and rode heavy on her shoulders and finally accepts it as part of who she is. With bow and rapier hung up for good she stops fighting other people’s battles and instead focuses on creation and storytelling. She works to help others cope with their trauma, and puts their fears to song in the hopes that singing into the darkness will help them - and her - sleep a little better at night.
