So! Adami likes control. As much as it’s fun being held down and fucked, or having someone else do all the thrusting, she’d occasionally want to take the reins. And Mr. Crawling is a very good dog for her.
When Mr. Crawling first entered the ghost realm, he had no idea he died. He still had memories surrounding his death, but it felt more like waking up than fading away.
He quickly lost even these memories, and forgot about being human altogether.
Given he still doesn't know he's dead, he doesn't think of himself as a ghost. He's a resident of the apartments -- and he doesn't think of the ghost apartments as apartments. it's just where everyone is. Despite being pretty smart, he just doesn't have the context for any of this to make sense.

I had this, like, whooooole thing written out + accidentally deleted it b4 posting 😭 so here we go again! whoopsyyyyy! It’s okay because I wrote A LOT MORE this go of it than the last… also mentioned some details on character bed rooms! this is gonna be looooong so it's under a readmore.
She spreads out and takes up a lot of space!!! She also tries to do her bed in the morning, but it depends on the state of her room — she’s actually a bit messy, sometimes! But it’s just things being out of place + clothes - dirty and clean - being tossed all around. She never leaves food or dishes, never gets gnats or ants… She can quickly clean up, too. And often does that either right before, or right after bringing someone over. Unlike Kiyo, Momo has a pretty nice studio apartment. She doesn’t live in the dorms or anywhere on campus.
Momo is also a pretty heavy sleeper! And she snores, depending on if she’s sprawled out on her back or on her stomach. She moves around a little in her sleep. Might accidentally kick you. Almost always gets to sleep on a set schedule, rarely has any trouble sleeping.
She has dreams!!! She doesn’t write them down, but haaaas considered in the past, because she forgets them. they’re often silly or nonsensically dramatic, like having the tension of a serious conversation, but when she wakes up and remembers it it’s always about something stupid like whether you should actually be using a fork to eat ice cream, or whether eating raisins should hold the death penalty. A lot of food related dreams. There’s often a whole plot to them, too, if she can remember. Consistently dreams of the same places + characters/people. If she put time into it she’d have a pretty detailed dreamscape.
When she’s asleep she’s ASLEEP!!!! like she’s fuckin OUT!!!
Sleeping is another one of those few things she has where she can be truly relaxed..... though, sometimes if she’s particularly nervous about something in her waking life, she won’t be able to get to sleep! Or she won’t be able to fully relax, and it’ll end up a restless sleep — one of those kinds of sleeps where you question if you were actually asleep, or if you were just laying there in bed while time passed…..
She can usually get to sleep quick / easier if she masturbates beforehand lol.
She has a few body pillows + several different pillowcases, very dirty ones… You know the ones. Every morning she has a routine where she will remove the case from the pillow + shove it in a drawer (usually the same one she hides her sex toys in). And then sometimes she makes her bed.
Her room is surprisingly clean most of the time. She was watched very closely as a child, and there were consequences for a lack of cleanliness, so it’s just a part of her brain to clean up + take care of her space by this point—-
her DORM ROOM, though… is NOT hers alone, and it WILL get messy. Much to her distress! (The prior paragraph was me talking about when she gets a place of her own...) it’s both because people aren’t normally as clean as her… and she doesn’t feel fully comfortable sharing a space with someone… so it creates a barrier in her mind when cleaning. She was an only child!!
She stays curled up on her side, and she’s a pretty heavy sleeper! You can move her around and watch her ragdoll. Lol. She’ll wind up curling back up around something or someone if you do.
Her bed is decorated w/ various stuffed animals, some she’s had since she was a child. Some that Momo gave her. She switches them out w/ others that line her shelves… and little anime figurines (not pervy ones! she doesn’t have anything perverted out in the open bc of her paranoia)
Restless sleeper... Light sleeper...
Constantly moving around in his sleep, trying to get comfortable—- He’s fallen out of bed PLENTY of times before. kicked people. SCREAMED in his sleep….
He’ll be sweating, and crying and whining…..... grooaaaaning… If he wakes up from his own screaming, or breathing, or from falling out of the bed - he’ll quickly fall back to sleep unless there’s something wrong. Like, if there’s an intruder or someone’s staring at him. He can sense it —-
unnecessary + random science for you actually: it’s been studied and proven ( I think... ) that people can /tell/ on some subconscious level when they’re being watched? I’ll see if I can find what I’m talking about, I might be wrong idk I’ll edit this if I am. but anyways!
He’ll fall asleep at an awkward angle on the hard wood floor, or halfway on+off the bed. His body is DESPERATE for a good night’s sleep, but his mind just won’t allow it… he’s exhausted a lot. Especially with his drug usage ( meth + cocaine ). He’ll go a week without sleep and still not get rested when he finally shuts his brain off.
It doesn’t matter if he’s on the comfiest bed in the world, either. he will sleep restlessly. Though, being on a comfortable bed might help get him to bed sooner… and help him get /back/ to bed sooner… that’s really the only benefit.
He’s plagued by constant nightmares, night terrors… by this point he forgets them almost as soon as he wakes up, since they’re just routine. Whether they’re vivid or not, he’ll just move on from them and forget them.
overtime, it may get better. if he’s in a safer, consistent space.
Though I often write him as either being homeless or locked up in a cell of sorts.
So, that said, he doesn’t really have a set room design either? But in a verse where he has his own place, or is living with someone who actually gives a damn + gives him his own room. It will become MESSY.
Sometimes, the only restful sleep he can get is the kind he gets when he’s dead, because he’s fully out — but even that depends on his manner of death, because he can wake up feeling sick or panicked.
BONUS ( canon characters! )
Doesn’t feel like he needs to sleep very much, but he /will/ nap if he’s sharing the bed w/ someone! ( like Adami, or a romantic partner ) He also doesn’t stay asleep for as long as humans do. So he’ll wake up again after 2-4 hours and stay where he is, enjoying whoever’s company he has.
He’s very patient and doesn’t normally mind waiting on you to wake up! Or waiting for you to get home from work. He doesn’t need anything other than his thoughts to keep him occupied if he's got you in his arms.
Not a heavy sleeper, sleeps lightly. That’s what you get for living in the ghost apartments for almost, like, a millennia

Occasional nightmares that she doesn’t really think twice about or blink at or... even remember. Usually, though, her dreams are empty + her sleep is fulfilling… she could sleep forever, if she wanted to. I’m sure true fans know what I’m referencing...
Stays still in her sleep. Goes to sleep best on her side, but sometimes sleeps on her back, especially if she’s got Mr. Crawling in bed with her.
She likes him snuggling up with his head on her chest. Sometimes she snores. Crawling thinks it’s cute. He can tell she’s sleeping well!!!

Constantly tired — it’s canonically a running theme in-game and I imagine it has something to do w/ the state of his… body ( + maybe his mind! ) he can fall asleep pretty easily + is a light sleeper. He hates being woken up, and is incredibly startled when he is…
but you can carry him around while he’s sleeping as long as you’re careful + quiet. He has also fallen asleep while being carried. It’s kind of like falling asleep on a car ride…? Shaky but soothing, lulling you...
Sometimes he drools.
Doesn’t need to sleep, but he will if he’s in his previous state of being… (the, uh non-humanoid, gooey shape on the floor thing). It’s simply a result of having his strength taken away. It’s exhausting being in that state. Draining. But other than that, he doesn’t sleep. He spends most of his time going around the apartments and mapping out the changes, as well as catching or killing creatures around the apartments that might cause issues for others… he’s the reason there’s monsters tied up in chains in dark rooms!
Despite being pretty morally dubious.. I actually have this whole thing i wrote up about him + his morals from my personal perspective… I think he’s a good guy, he just doesn’t have the same way of think as a human being.

I told you about this in dms but I think it’s worth saying again—-Mr. Crawling could easily become obsessed with sex. And as a ghost he has nigh unlimited stamina for it. He’s never rough, but he’s always passionate. And if he could ask for sex as much as he asks for other displays of affection - like kissing or petting - he would! But he knows you get exhausted, and he can read that pretty well. So he won’t ask!
The way I see Crawling is someone who, even if he had words for it, would not need to define his love to any person if they didn't ask for it to be defined.
He wants to love and to be loved, and care like he's always wanted to be cared for. He's not selfish, and doesn't ruminate on what he's not been given. Instead he focuses on giving what he thinks other people need, and deserve. He's helped others before in the apartments, and some have rejected him, and he's gone on his way. Adami was special. Someone who needed him longer than others had needed him, and who appreciated him in ways he wasn't familiar with (at least, in the nicer endings/in a majority of runs).
The loyal one, the stubborn one, the one who fights for others. The guarder, the watcher, the brave, foolish, valiant person who is not the same person by the end of the story.

my headcanons on what I think Mr. Crawling would have a taste for. started thinking about this after sending this to @macabrenexus
He was given food appropriate to time period and class (blogspot post attached), but he was fed much less than his sisters, and not given anything too indulgent. Food wasn't scarce for nobility during the time in which he was alive.
He likes things that are tangy and salty, and fermented.
Fish was especially plentiful, he loves fish. it doesn’t matter whether it’s cooked or raw.
He likes savory meat, and raw meats. He craves meat more than most other things.
He did not eat a lot of sweets - like I said, nothing too indulgent. so he’s unfamiliar with the taste - the time period also didn't have things as sweet as they are today I imagine, so he wouldn't be very familiar with the taste of sweets even if he was given sweeter things. That said, I think he would love dark chocolate. it's not too sweet, not too overwhelming for him. and it's a bit bitter, and incredibly rich, which are both things he would like.
He was also never given tea, but would like it unsweet + hot.
I imagine he doesn’t realize how dangerous it is for humans to eat raw meat, he just knows that humans have an aversion to it.
