Sebastian was born and raised in Los Angeles to Jane and Walter Jr. Wilder alongside his sister, Laura. Their family never had a lot of money, which caused their parents to work extra and long hours. But these hardships kept the family close. And despite the family not having a lot of money, music was always valued in their household. A love of music is something that Sebastian inherited from his father, who used to play clarinet in his spare time.
When Sebastian was fourteen, he heard Jazz for the first time, more specifically, Thelonious Monk. A whole world opened up to him, and Sebastian found himself immersed in it. He learned how to play piano, something in which he was naturally gifted at. Sebastian wow’d anyone who dared to listen- which sometimes seemed few and far between.
After he dropped out of college, Sebastian worked a few jobs as a bartender, a job that he truly loathed. Not just the dealing with other people, but the working for some asshole. This helped Sebastian realize his true dream: opening a jazz club, a pure, true jazz club.
The dreamer found himself prey to a con- who told him he’d match Sebastian dollar to dollar and the two would buy the Van Beek. Sebastian slaved over jobs here and there to put the money together, only for the guy to run off with Sebastian’s half of the money. Never to be seen again.
Having his life earnings stolen from him, Sebastian was forced to sell his house just so he could pay his bills. He managed to find a low-income apartment and also found a new job, actually doing what he likes, playing the piano except his new boss hated jazz and there was much arguing over Seb’s “creative” take on the set list, he ended up getting fired. Seb then found a band who did gigs at small parties and this is where he first, really, met Mia Dolan.
The two hit it off fast and began dating, but a few months into the relationship they met a man named Keith who was part of The Messengers band which Seb didn’t care for but later on joins for Mia. Becoming a success after only a few weeks, but really hating the band, put a strain on Seb and Mia’s relationship. The two got in a heated argument and eventually, they fell out of love and grew apart.
Present day, Seb has finally opened up his jazz club. And although a lot of hard work was put into getting it just the way he wanted, he is finally enjoying the life he worked so hard for. Seb finally gets to live his dream and started to let love into his life again.
