Some Enchanted Evening // Lany & Trayce
Lany hummed absently to herself as she slung her yueqin over her shoulder and locked the door behind her, beginning the walk to the park that had become one of her favorite spots in the city. It wasn’t often that she made friends, given her busy schedule and shy nature, but music had been her bridge to the outside world once again. Though there was no guarantee she’d run into Trayce again, Lany had a feeling he would return to the park where they’d recently met. Just in case, she’d brought along a batch of almond cookies along with the sheet music to a piece she was working on.
There were a few people scattered around, enjoying each others company, taking a walk, or simply spending time outdoors. She smiled as she passed by an elderly couple and their dog, settling for her usual spot against the large willow by the river. Tucking her dress beneath her as she sat, Lany took her instrument out of its bag and pulled out the incomplete composition, staring at it contemplatively as she tuned the strings.
It was a song of spring, light and airy, and she played a few bars to ensure the yueqin was correctly tuned. Once she was satisfied, she made herself fully comfortable and took a deep breath, letting herself relax into the moment before she attempted to write more of the song she knew was itching to be put to paper.
