I rly love your Asriel and Flowey post but I'm confused by the introjector term and I was wondering if you could explain it a bit? The wiki definition had big words that made it even more hard to understand
sure thing! as i understand it from following ppl w alters like this (though i may be wrong/misunderstanding) an abuser introject alter generally acts very similarily to a past abuser, or enacts similar abusive behavior the victim went through. for example, if someone is a victim of parental abuse, the alter may act and look like a parental figure that tries to control the victim the same way the abusers did with parental abuse tactics.
these alters can enact a lot of danger on the host, system, or body. one theory as to why they exist, what “role” they play in the system and trauma, is that as we go through abuse were conditioned to follow certain “rules” set by the abuser. following these rules becomes very important to avoiding conflict and a lot of anxiety and trauma is centered around these rules and having to follow them to avoid anger/conflict. so an alter may internalize these rules so the system follows them and therefore avoids conflict/danger. however thats a maladaptive mechanism and the alter can then manifest as something rly harmful to the system. but the role they play is basically.. a maladaptive protector? but one that would be at complete odds to a Real, actually helpful protector alter that cares abt the system.
however theres a lot that are just. so abusive even trying to explain them as a maladaptive protector feels wrong , like theyre just horrible ppl. ive seen abuser introject alters that not only reenact the specific abuse tactics of someones abuser, but also bigotry that the abusers enacted on the victim or that the victim goes through in their life (because thats also traumatic). so these alters can be misogynist, racist, transphobic, and have wildly different outlooks on life than the rest of the system do. though of course every system is different so none of these things Have to be what the alter is like its just various possibilities of how it manifests.
