I feel like each of the first, like, 10¹ Anita Blake Vampire Hunter books had a side note about how the main character never, ever wore foundation.

She'd be like "Here's the lipstick I'm wearing. I never wear base." And then never elaborate on why her make-up routine included no foundation.

In hindsight, that was like. an odd thing to include so regularly.

I wear make-up very infrequently (like once a decade) and I don't really know why one would have this preference and it was never explained. Was she just flexing her complexion? I think I did not ever understand this.
