It wasn’t an easy thing to catch him off guard considering his almost perfect hearing, however, it wasn’t impossible. So, when something solid and heavy hit his head, he had no time to react and look at the attacker, no time to hit back or change his form, all he could do was lose his conscience. He came to his senses only once, but only to try to cover his head from quick and sharp blows, fail and faint again. After this, there was only darkness and pain, his mind floated in it and had no strength even to get properly angry at those who were beating him so mercilessly, obviously in hope to kill him.
He didn’t notice how they left and how someone else approached what was left of him lying on the ground.
It wasn’t exactly as unusual as it probably should have been to find someone lying in the middle of an alley. Usually, it was a drunk, or someone on drugs, or something else similar. It wasn’t as normal to find someone there, bloodied and beaten.
Thinking at first that it was just a drunk, Eddie’d been planning to just walk past him, but when he’d noticed blood, he stopped, his boots scuffing the ground. He eyed the figure for a second, before approaching cautiously, kneeling down and pressing his fingers to the man’s neck to check for a pulse.
