you can’t tell me having money doesn’t play a role in getting accepted to better universities when universities rely so heavily on exams whose test takers scores improve with the more money they have the ability to funnel into taking said test.

it becomes a question of how much expendable income you have to score high on said test, rather than what your actual abilities are.

college pre-requisites are largely bullshit. i’ve literally won speech and debate awards at the state level, repeatedly, i make money from my speeches, i have trophies, medals, etc. from this shit 

yet i have to pay a thousand dollars to take a class on how to give speeches, lmaooooooooooo, and theres no way to test out of it, you either have the course or you dont. 

i’m literally on the speech and debate team, i was the captain of my old team, and that’s not qualification enough, 

so i have to sit in a class full of 18 year olds who can’t give speeches and waste my time and money because this school is intentionally obtuse when it comes to their students abilities.

in academia having skills isn’t enough you must also have the money to prove your skills, your skills aren’t allowed to speak for themselves.

you know many high tier universities are bullshit when poor people can get accepted to them but can’t afford to actually go to them because their living conditions would either be too crap, or impossible.

or they can’t travel to them, or they wouldn’t be able to survive the vacations because theyd have no where to stay or eat, and so on the list goes on forever.

so like r u really getting the best students.if u ain’t providing full ass scholarships for the poor, u ain’t shit, sorry bye.

performative intelligence in academia, and life in general, honestly inhibits people from learning.

when you’re constantly expected to already know, or understand instantly, less you be considered one of those “less intelligent” types, you’re not going to get as detailed information as you may need

so if you don’t understand it instantly, or you don’t already know the only apparent options become:

let them know you’re not as smart as the others who are also pretending to understand the subject matter or ... do not learn this subject matter and never grow from this point on this subject matter.

the fact that it’s so unacceptable to ask people for help in understanding things is damaging to ... you know ... actually understanding things.

like for people who profess care for knowledge acquisition they sure do a good fucking job at stopping people from learning.
