OMG I FINALLY GOT IT FIXED
OR
WELL
SORT OF
I MEAN I ACTUALLY DIDN`T FIX ANYTHING BUT FOUND A REALLY SIMPLE SOLUTION
Some SAI users may know this error “exception access violation” which happens when you try to open a png in the first versions of paint tool SAI (or, if “Always Use File Viewer” is checked it pops up once you open a folder with a png file in it)
Now, I read that I should disable “Always Use File Viewer” but it didn´t really work, the only thing it did was delay the error notification to put up, so it wouldn´t pop up anymore once I opened a folder with a png, but STILL appear and prevent me from opening a png file once I tried just that
SO
SOLUTION THAT ACTUALLY FRICKING WORKS
I dowloaded “IrfanView” which let me convert every png in each folder to jpg/jpeg, but then I had two versions of each picture and only knew which one was which after opening their details (they have identical names and xeah no, who the fuck has enough patience/time to rename half their pictures)
once I re-opened SAI however and went to open a file, I discovered that IrfanView wormed its way into the selection and made it possible to choose the file-format that I want to view/choose a picture from, so once you choose “jpg/jpeg” I only had the version I was now ABLE to open in SAI (the jpg/jpeg versions of the pictures that I also still have the png versions of) and I can now open them without any trouble or error-notifications and
yeah
phew
I´m so happy I found this solution bc the Internet was fucking useless here and I won´t ever have this nerve-wrecking problem again!
