One of the things I love best about Pilates is how adaptable the movements are for all different bodies. It doesn’t have the philosophical foundations of Yoga so it really is more of a physical practice, but can still have a powerful affect on our state of mind, and just because we are focusing on the body it doesn’t have to be all about aesthetics. It can be a practice to help us understand and care for the body that we have. There is an overwhelming representation of young, white, thin bodies shared online, and some disturbing revelations come to light within the Australian Pilates community. We can all do better, shout out to the following accounts representing the true diversity of this practice 💕 @fatbodypilates @blackgirlpilates @radpilates @cloudsways @decolonizing_fitness (Not strictly Pilates but a much needed voice). Who have I missed? Please share in the comments 💗 🌿 @accessibleyogaschool have a yoga focus, but I’ve been able to apply everything I’ve learned in my Pilates classes too. If you’re a teacher who would like more resources to help everyone feel welcome in your classes I highly recommend everything they share!! 📸 @erin_lee_photo_karate . . . #gardenofyoga #pilatesforallbodies #pilatesforall #accessiblepilates (at Garden of Yoga) https://www.instagram.com/p/ChLgkt6P8kG/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
