Hi I was just wondering have you ever read Desi Arnazs book ? I was thinking of reading it and wanted to know if it was good or not-Thanks
Hi :) Yes, I have read Desi’s book. I really enjoyed it. It covers his life from his childhood up until the last episode of The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour (there was supposed to be a sequel, but he never got around to writing it). The style of writing is really natural and makes you feel as if you’re just having a chat, it’s wonderful. He’s got lots of interesting, funny stories as well, and the book really helps one understand him as a person (people tend to make unfair judgements about him right off the bat). Best of all is that you can really tell he loves Lucy, and the extent of his love for her.. He really doesn’t put her down or drag out any dirty laundry (Lucy once privately commented that there were a lot of things he could have said about them but didn’t.) You can tell just by his descriptions of her and their life how much he loved her and still was in love with her at the time of the writing. He does dodge the topic of their divorce a lot (in the last couple of pages it basically dissolves into business talk), I think it’s because he felt guilty about it and didn’t want to go into the dirty details. The guys who worked with him on the book said every time they got on to the subject of divorce, he would fall apart because he felt like he’d been “a rotten husband” and it was “apparent that he still loved her very much” so it hurt him to think back on it. But all in all, it’s a great, entertaining book and full of his love for her. Copies of it are pretty expensive but if you can track one down it’s well worth it :)
Hi,Just wanted to say first of all I love your blog, seriously I could spend hours just scrolling down all your pages. Second,I was wondering do you know any websites where I could watch I Love Lucy?? Thanks ;D
Thanks so much :) You can watch I Love Lucy here and here, you have to put up with ads and not all the episodes are available tho. Also, this website has some as well.
