Hey, currently on the browser/web version of tumblr it takes three clicks to open your own blog, which is a bit annoying and weird to navigate (unless you’ve just posted/reblogged something that puts your own pfp at the top of your own dash and you can click that). Is there a plan to add an easier way to quickly open your own blog, like we had before where your own pfp was always at the top of the dash?

A short and sweet answer for you here. We understand and agree—and agree wholeheartedly, in fact. 

It is an admittedly not-awesome aspect of the current design, and we would like to put it on the list as something to improve in 2024. It would also be a nifty addition to the dashboard experience. 

As usual, we would suggest you keep your eyes peeled to @changes and here at @wip for news as and when we have it.

Hello :) I would like to suggest something that I think is important for more safety. My phone got stolen last week and after contacting the staff, there wasn't apparently an option to log out all devices. I think that could be an important add to make, because better be safe and to not fear the use of the app account in that particular case. Thank you in advance for reading this!

We have good news for you.

While there is no singe button to log out of everywhere at once, there is the next best thing. If you go to https://www.tumblr.com/settings/account on web and scroll to the bottom of the page, you will find Active Sessions. From here, you can click the “X” next to whichever session you want to log out of. In your case, you should be able to find your phone session listed and select the “X” out of it.

For mobile, while we never included it in the mobile apps, this page is still accessible via a mobile browser if you log in to Tumblr and go to account settings that way.

Don't you think Tumblr users should have a limit on creating accounts? We have blocked users coming back under a new account continuing to make trouble for people. How many accounts can a Tumblr user have?

Answer: Hey, @3iuu-na!

So we are afraid this is just one of those hard facts true of any part of the internet. While we have some tools in place to stop people from doing this in the obvious ways, it’s incredibly difficult to prevent all of the ways, so we’re not perfect.

We are not aware, in fact, of any platform on the internet that can successfully fully stop someone from making another account if they’re determined enough. (Unless they shut off new account creation entirely for everyone.) The only thing that’s kind of comparable here is how Netflix is currently trying to stop people from using the same account in multiple locations, which is the opposite of this problem and has just as much technical difficulty to get right.

But we couldn’t agree more in principle: banned users should not be able to create new accounts. We are not sure we can prevent them from doing this in all cases. Regardless, if you see somebody awful making a comeback in a new account and doing bad things, please report them! We’ll happily ban them again.

will there be any way to rearrange sideblog order?

We have some good news for you. You already can! At least on web. There’s a little handle on the right to do so:

Simply hover over the four dots, as you can see in the above screenshot, and drag your sideblogs into the order you desire.

Though, on reflection, this seems a little easy to miss and sometimes is under the scrollbar, ugh…

Thanks as always for your question. You have, inadvertently, given us food for thought and maybe something to try and improve. It’s certainly easy to miss, requiring a hover over the blog name from the snowman menu... we will give this one some thought.

Hi! Can I ask, Our user names why Capitals not allowed mid name?

Like mine is seen as queenwhumphouse but would it be possible to use capitals like QueenWhumpHouse so how more cooler it looks 🥰🤪

This is a great and slightly tricky question, which deserves a great and slightly tricky answer. Here goes…

So the technical reason is that many of our tools for looking up information are case-insensitive. This means that our software would see cyle and Cyle and CyLe as the same set of letters. But… other sets of tools see them as different. We normalize all blog names at creation to be fully lowercase to make them consistent in that regard. Technology is funny like that.

The real fix here would be for us to add a “display name” field, like Twitter has (boo! hiss! clutches cross, holds garlic), which doesn’t affect your actual blog name. However, we’re afraid to say that’s not gonna happen anytime soon, sadly, for time/workload reasons.

Will we ever be able to change which blog is our primary blog? I’ve had this same tumblr account for years and it turns out I use one of my side more than the primary one which makes sending asks and replying to people frustrating. If not changing which blog is the primary one would we ever be able to send replies from secondary blogs?

This is a great question that requires an answer in two halves: the short story and the long story.

The short story: yes, we’ve experienced this problem ourselves, and we’d love to fix it. We have actually prototyped ways to fix it—however, it’s not high up on our priority list right now.

I want to set my birthdate in this new update but the year it has set, for example, 2001, doesn't match with my actual birth year. I want to change it but it doesn't let me.
