So I'm aro/ace and totally fine with not having any form of sexual or romantic relationship, but I still find myself wanting people to find me attractive when I go out. I feel kind or ridiculous sometimes because I wouldn't want anyone to approach me and try to hit on me if they did find me attractive, but I still want people to think I'm pretty or look cute.

I totally can relate to the feeling. I think a lot of that stems from the society that we live in and how focused it is on appearance and beauty and the specific standards that have been set out for us. I think that can also come from the years where aro/ace people might’ve assumed they were straight and that way of thinking just hasn’t left yet. And it’s important to remember that that way of thinking might never totally disappear. 

I’m sure that you’re always cute or pretty nonnie! And you don’t need someone hitting on you for that to be true. ^.^

Ace confession: I don't really know what it's like to be "turned on"... Is it what I feel when I listen to my favorite song on repeat, or maybe that excitement in my stomach when I read a really good story? I've been wanting to ask someone but I feel like I'll get laughed at or alienated.

I’m sorry that you feel like you can’t actively talk to someone about this. Identifying sexual feelings while ace can be difficult since we don’t normally associate them with a person.

I found this thread on the AVEN website that discusses what people feel like when they’re turned on or horny. I think there are some pretty decent analogies and I hope that it can help!
