Iâve been quiet for a while as I took a break from Social Media and Tumblr. So here are a selection of a few drawings that I did in the last three months. Plenty of practice and doodling for fun
So I guess Iâm back for a bit, see how much of my stuff gets flagged :)
Picking two names at random for your ask game: Acheflow and Scarlet please!
Of course! This one will be fun to do!
Send an ask with two names of my original characters and Iâll give a summary of what they think of each other!
These two would not like each other. They would appreciate the other's strengths, but would not want to be in the same room if they had the choice.
Acheflow would think Scarlet is too impulsive, too loud, too big of a presence for her to deal with. She would also likely think Scarlet is childish and petty, which are not traits that she would want to tolerate for long... if at all. However, she would admire and appreciate how honest Scarlet, and how she won't compromise her values to fit society's norms.
On the other hand, Scarlet would consider Acheflow to be too uptight, a little snobby, and too distant emotionally to connect with. Scarlet doesn't like a lot of people, but that's still something she needs, and she doesn't quite trust how completely distant Acheflow can be. Still, she would admire the fact that Acheflow has been completely independent and doing her own thing, without caring what people think or say about her!
For the anon who requested a purple moodboard; Iâve still been having so much fun on Canva, so here it is! I wasnât sure if you wanted a specific character, so I used the name-picking hat to get you an Acheflow!
And here is artbreeder Acheflow! And no editing on this one, which is super cool!
I really like the looks you can pull off with artbreeder; you can go like... uber realistic, or super artsy, and itâs just... so good. I could make it look like someone painted a portrait of them (which I have, itâs so cool). Seriously. So much fun. I may get sucked into artbreeder for a while before anything else because thereâs just so much possibility to it!
If youâre still doing them, how about Acheflow+multiples of 5 for âSend Me An OC and a Numberâ
Heyyyyy, thanks mobile tumblr, for giving me the notification about this ask... not! Haha, sorry this took so long, I just saw this (and Iâm sneaking on during class to do this because well... why not?). Iâll throw this under a Read More to keep things small!
5. Do they have a secret handshake with anyone?
Nope! Lou would definitely try to get her to make one with them, but no success!
10. What is their favourite room to be in, in the house they live in?
Her bedroom, because it has most of the books! Also, itâs way comfortable in there!
15. What was the last thing they cried about?
Acheflow hasnât cried for real since she was really little; she was scared of a violent death she saw coming for a stranger who had accidentally brushed against her on the street.
20. Do they have a pet?
Scamp! Now, Acheflow wouldnât claim Scamp as her pet, but Scamp is her cat. Grumpy cat, who loves only one person, and that is Acheflow. He was such a cute fluffball as a kitten, and now heâs a grumpy fluff!
25. What type a high schooler are/were they?
If Acheflow went to high school, she would have been the loner, who spent most of her time in the library. The faculty would love her, but she would not have been popular among the students... except the ones she was convinced to tutor. They loved her too, because their grades got a boost.
30. Do they have a job?
Does grumpy advice hermit count? If yes, then yes! If not, then... nope. (In AUs, she does though!)
35. Do they own a plant?
Only the fruits and vegetables she plants to eat!
40. If I wanted to draw them, what would be distinct physical features that I would have to know to draw them correctly?
Ooooh! Um... I donât know. Sheâs got really, really blue eyes, and black hair, so thatâs a combo? Also, sheâs tanner because she spends a lot of time outside, and scars from when she cooks, hunts, and all that stuff!
45. Are they a quick learner?
Oh, absolutely! One of the fastest learners of my OCs!
50. If they got called out by someone, what would they do?
Probably ignore them. Sheâs not the type to care much, unless she has an immediate reason to.
55. What is something they always wanted to do but too scared?
Hahaha, Acheflow, scared to do something? Never! This is the girl who breaks into houses because she thinks books are being mistreated. And the girl who tried to prevent a murder as a kid. She doesnât stop for anything if she wants to do it.
60. What would be their dream vehicle?
She wouldnât have one; sheâs pretty pleased if something gets her from point A to point B.
65. What makes them smile?
Chocolate! And books. She doesnât smile much, so the little smiles you get with little things like that are what you get to work with!
70. What do you, the creator of this OC, like most about them?
Oh, loads! But I suppose the thing I love most is the way she doesnât care at all what people think about her; she knows sheâs a grump, and she knows she has an attitude, but she doesnât care. Thatâs who she is, and if other people canât handle it, why the hell are they bugging her?
75. Have they ever partied too hard and their friends had to take them home?
I do have a little snippet written somewhere where Acheflow gets drunk around gods, but honestly, Acheflow is more likely to be the friend who takes care of the drunk people instead of the other way around.
80. Do they like other peopleâs children?
She... likes them more than she likes most people? Acheflow doesnât like people in general, but kids havenât done anything wrong, so she doesnât dislike them.
85. Do they like to cook?
She doesnât have strong feelings about cooking; she has to do it, so why complain about it? But she wonât go out of her way to do it for fun.
90. What is a joke that they would find funny?
Acheflow is more likely to chuckle at some ridiculous dad joke, or a clever knock knock joke. Silly things like that, that most people wouldnât find funny. (I donât know jokes, so I canât give examples, sorry!) Anything history based would probably get a reaction too.
95. Have they ever jumped out of a plane?
There arenât any planes in the story, but she would probably... try it in an AU. Just to say that she did, and so Lou wouldnât be able to say they did it when Acheflow wouldnât.
Have to get back in the swing of things, so hereâs some writing I did at random. Not the greatest, but like... itâs more than Iâve written in a while! Which I see as a win! Iâm leaving part of it under the Read More, to keep things small!
Tobias had asked her once, if she remembered when her gift first made itself known; had it always been there, or had it awoken as she grew older? What was the first thing she had seen?
Acheflow couldnât explain it, not then, not even after all theyâd shared. But when he asked⊠she had lied. Lied with a skill unusual for her, matter-of-factly answering in the negative.
Because she did remember. Every. Single. Moment.
The air was still, so hot and heavy and oppressive it felt like an identity all on its own. The Air, always watching, always waiting⊠hovering in a way that was unnerving, like a presence youâll never see.
The woman was in the bed, far thinner than she should have been, hair dull and limp despite obvious efforts to care for it. Her attempts to raise a hand were weak, her limbs shaking as she tried to reach out, her gentle smile out of place and cruel in this setting. And the light in her eyes, slowly fading without a fight.
It was bright -blinding to look at- through the windows, the curtains browning and falling into disrepair as they hung uselessly by the glass. Everything was clean, as if spotlessness would keep time in place, stop it from taking anything away. Too clean, too perfect, but for the frail woman watching her.
And the soup was burning. Unwatched, uncared for, as time froze and moved too fast at the same time. Her mother was slipping away, and the smell-
That was the worst of it. She could remember the sight, remember everything she saw, but that smellâŠ
She couldnât get away from that.
Acheflow could change the curtains, could move furniture, could change how things looked⊠but that smell was so common. It was so easy for her senses to latch onto that, even outside of a vision⊠and it always brought it back.
The first time. The first person, the first death. The first vision of an inevitable end.
And the last person she hadnât been able to save.
Acheflow kept herself steady, slipped past Louâs waving arms to stir at the pot silently. She listened -barely- to Louâs ranting about their adventures, about the treasure they were so excited to find after they got through the mountain. Her hands were calm as she caught a glimpse of Tobiasâ confusion as she settled by the pot, abandoning the book sheâd been holding before she moved.
âI thought you were reading,â Tobias took his chance to speak when Lou took a breath. âI didnât figure youâd come join us.â
Acheflow glanced over at the book, blocked now by Lou and their enthusiastic grin; so bright, so optimistic, so sure that no matter what the world threw at them, everything would work out right. And so alive in ways Acheflow hadnât been in a long time.
She shrugged, keeping her actions calm. That was the key, to make sure nobody looked deeper, to be relaxed enough nobody would see anything different. As long as she managed to remain calm, eventually her emotions would settle. Just the way that she needed them.
Here's a very adorable Acheflow that I love, commissioned by @kq-yo, who was so incredible and nice through the whole process! If y'all get the chance, I highly recommend checking them out!
Also, I have the highest respect for them, because from my fumbled description, they got the EXACT expression and body language Acheflow would have while lecturing Tobias or Lou on some historical fact!
Hey, sorry, I typed this on mobile before realizing that Read Mores are just... obnoxious to get to that way, so now that Iâm running away to desktop, I can post! I was reminded of my Hogwarts AU recently, so hereâs a bit for that, because I miss AUs and Iâm low on inspiration for story!
Leave a âJoin Meâ in my ask, and Iâll write a drabble about one character giving another character an offer [be it a proposal for an alliance, asking them to join them in an activity (you can get dirty if you want), feel free to specify
âYou have got to be kidding me.â Unamused, Acheflow flipped the page in her book, too focused on the long-obsolete information she was reading to hear a response. âI have better things to do than go shopping, or get pulled to a joke store.â
âIâll buy you lunch?â Tobias leaned comfortably on the table, his shadow making it impossible to continue reading. âCome on A, you promised. Do you really want me to disappoint my sister again?â
Acheflow raised her eyebrows skeptically. âAre you telling me youâve suddenly forgotten how to buy presents for girls?â
âUh⊠thatâs different! This is my sister. Sheâs not happy with flowers or chocolate!â Tobias sat on the table now, grinning easily down at her. âBesides, you owe me for distracting everyone when your potion exploded.â
âThat was not my fault.â Not completely at least. Sighing, Acheflow closed the book, recognizing a lost cause when she saw it. âWhy me? Iâm horrible at buying gifts.â
Tobias didnât even have the grace to deny it, remembering previous gifts of very thick books⊠but she had gotten better, if last Christmas was any indication. He had the gloves sheâd given him on him still, although it was too early for them to be useful. âWho else am I going to ask that isnât going to ask for more than a butterbeer as thanks?â
âButterbeer?â
âChocolateâs even cheaper.â Tobias laughed at her scoff, hopping off the table. âSo, is it a date?â
âWhat?â If he didnât know better, Tobias would have sworn that was a squeak that escaped. Acheflow wasnât meeting his eyes, focused on putting her books in a neat pile, and he grinned.
âJust an expression.â Wish it wasnât. âIâm going to Hogsmeade this weekend; want to come with? I really could use the help.â
âIâll⊠see. I might be busy.â
âI can wait. I have until Christmas.â
Acheflow frowned, her hands suddenly freezing in place. âYou shouldnât wait until last minute.â
Tobiasâ grin grew as he shoved his hands into his pockets. âI wonât have to if you help me. Have fun with the reading, A.â He ruffled her hair, ignoring the indignant grumble. âWe can decide when weâre going later. But I gotta go. Talk to you later?â
âMm⊠yeah?â Her face was red, she could feel it as she turned away to pack her books into her bag. He had a nasty habit of throwing her off guard, pushing buttons before backing away and leaving without another word.
If she didnât actually enjoy his company so much -and all the chocolate was a plus- Acheflow might have just turned him down with the coldness she was known for.
A paper bird broke into view, flying in circles before landing on her bag carefully. Looking in her direction, it chirped just once before the words revealed itself on its wings in familiar handwriting.
Thanks A. See you at dinner?
She couldnât help the smile, although she desperately tried to bury it when she heard the amused interest from bystanders in the library. She had an image, an accidental one but still⊠she didnât like being the focus of everyoneâs attention, especially when it came to her personal life.
But Acheflow knew sheâd end up meeting Tobias at dinner regardless... as much as she tried, she couldnât resist (and she was honest enough to admit that part of that had to do with his generosity with chocolate).
But if people stared, she might start sneaking hexes!
