Fankidtober Day 18: Bertie

He's come so far from his initial concept... he has two and a half boyfriends now (Darcel only half counts what they have is much more weird than dating).

This is very silly but this is the point we're at in the month ok.

Day 5: Maela (Hilda/Aubin’s daughter) aka Comet Crimson!

Maela is the lead of the extremely popular magical girl/sentai show "Super Cosmic Idol Force" about idols who gain space-themed powers from a cute alien mascot to fight evil aliens with the power of song. As a talented singer and actress, Maela has a lot of fans (many of them children) for her role as the timid, yet secretly hot-headed team leader, but in reality, she's actually a very stern, blunt person who is tired of being defined by her role in a kid's show and wants to bring her career as a singer and actress up "to real professional standards".

(You might recall Maela from last year’s Fankidtober, but she’s had a major overhaul since then! I hope you enjoy the new Maela!)

Maela’s father, Aubin, is the same hero king who fought alongside Reshiram against his own twin sister, Merula, and Zekrom. When the twin dragons were sealed away, the twin rulers were sealed along with them, causing them to be fused together. Thus, when Team Oracle began siphoning Primal Energy from legendary pokémon, Aubin and Merula were reverted to their original forms, this happening towards the end of the BW2 plotline. Hilda helped Aubin get on his feet, and eventually (no thanks to either of them being stubborn about their feelings), after raising Maela and her brother together and seeing how well parenting together worked for Hilbert & N’s relationship, the two began dating and were married.

Having a medieval king for a father makes for a unique upbringing, and Maela’s been fascinated by history her whole life, deciding to follow in his footsteps and study the past. She specializes in the relationship between people and pokémon as it was centuries ago, studying manuscripts, journals, and illustrations. There are times she works alongside Professor Juniper and Bianca, though she’s also traveled to Galar to intern with Sonia, Hop, and Gloria, who’s research is closer in line with her own.

Maela’s always been stubborn and headstrong, not the best and sharing her feelings and struggling at times with people seeing her as “too serious”, the best and worse traits of both her parents! When her twin brother went missing, she grew even more cold and distant, pouring herself into her research and trying to find him, neglecting her own health, but now that he’s okay, things are mending in their family. None of them are the best at feelings but they know how to show each other their love, so things are working out just fine.

While Bertie is close with Euphie, Maela is similarly close with Tipha. Tipha tried to convince Maela to travel with her, but Maela got accepted for her junior research program in Galar instead, so while the two were sad to change plans, they keep in touch regularly and Maela loves hearing updates on all of Tipha’s wacky adventures with Emery, Renato and Gavin.

Twitter stuff part 3/4 it’s BERTIE!

I revealed Lunen for fankidtober so it’s only fair I share his other half. Don’t ask me how Hilda’s dark brown hair and Albin’s white hair combined to make blond it’s a genetics mystery.

This will probably be the last time I change any major ships but like I mentioned in the tags of my previous post I’ve decided to flip flop another protagonist ship. Like I switched around Red and Leaf’s families a while back, this time it’s Hilda and Hilbert’s. So now Hilda and Albin are married with Bertie and Maela, and Hilbert and N are married with Euphie, Tipha, and Oliver. Originally this started a while ago as a what if scenario but then I got really attached to how these pairings worked with these fankids in this AU so I guess it’s canon now whoops. I’ll go back and change any relevant posts, but that’s all for now!
