@aclashofmuses Taena and Cersei
There were very few people in the world Cersei allowed to see her in complete vulnerability, even fewer allowed to see it multiple times. With the death of her mother Cersei learned harshly to bottle away anything that wasn’t pure power, to only allow herself to be seen in the ultimate control. Even her breaks in that control had to be calculated to benefit instead of hinder. Many thought she was easy to guess the emotion of, but Cersei didn’t let many people know how her mind truly worked.
But even with all of that it was hard to be alone in a crowd.
Taena was a rock in the maelstrom of everything that was happening to her. The sweeping in of her father, the choices of who her eldest would marry, and the bride’s family coming in and trying to push her out. She had fought to long and hard, endured her oaf of a husband to long for someone to come in and sweep her under the rug. Taena had come with the family, but chose to be with Cersei instead. She wasn’t a fool and knew power grabs when she saw them, but Taena also seemed to be so sweetly honest with everything she said.
Even threats of Qyburn were met with simpering loyalty.
So Cersei allowed the women in, let her see her at her worst as she tried not to lose control of everything around her. Currently the two were in Cersei’s room, the night had only just fallen and Taena had assured her that the woman’s husband would be busy for the night and more than that didn’t care what she got up to.
“I wouldn’t care so much if not for the fact my father once again believes he can just come in and take everything again.” She hissed softly, but there was no vemon in her voice. If anything Cersei just sounded….tired.
