Watching their dynamic improve, every chapter was one of the best parts of the novel. Also the way Eruhaben kept opening up and became a part of the family, reading this made me rmbr all of those sweet moments! AHHH I'M FEELING JUST SO HAPPY RN!

I hate it when xtians reduce my religious trauma to "a religious person said something mean to you once so now you're mad at religion".

Like, shut the fuck up. My trauma isn't just someone being a little rude to me once, it was systematic, deliberate manipulation with the threat of possible eternity of suffering in Hell if I didn't obey religious rules and "keep Christ in my heart". It was "Nonbelievers burn in a lake of eternal fire. Tell your friends to convert to our faith or they'll be damned for eternity".

I have suffered from anxiety, ocd and other mental health issues for several fucking years because of this shit. I've suppressed my sexuality and felt terrible guilt just for the 'sin' of having sexual thoughts. I've feared for my loved one's souls, genuinely believing they would go to Hell for simply not being xtians and that I'd never see them again in the afterlife.

These beliefs are sick and twisted. What I went through was sick and twisted.

I seriously don't know what to say to you if you still think telling anyone, let alone a child, that they're going to be damned for eternity if they disobey 'God's word' is totally fine and not abusive.

Know your fucking place and stop speaking over trauma survivors who have been hurt by your shitty religion.

I made the mistake of looking at activities available for me in my town. I saw lots of stuff for kids 7-12. It made me sad. It made me remember I haven't been that physically young in a while. I was seeing all these fun things I'd love to do, all these people I wish I could be friends with, but then I just remembered how old I really am. It just hurts, a lot. I wish I never aged past 12. Every time I look at myself, I feel disgust, I hate how my body looks. Too tall, too big, my face isn't quite right, why hands are too big, my face is acne ridden, I don't fit in kids shoes or clothes and I haven't for a long time. I'm still young, but not young enough. And whenever I tell anyone how I'm feeling, I'm seen as disgusting. I'm not a creep, I just want to be seen the way I feel inside.

Kinda vent/discussion w Rule of Rose

The Funeral is my favorite chapter in Rule of Rose, a moment in the game that I'm not afraid to say deeply reflects a side of my childhood I tried to hide in my memories. Sometimes it hurts to remember how mean other kids, or even adults, were to you for simply being "different."

This is the phrase I used on my Unlucky_Gurl_ account (twitter) while describing this moment and I want to go a bit deeper into why. Maybe it's just me but this moment in the game truly caused me a breakdown. I fell into heavy tears because I never expected to see myself so fully in a game and Jennifer's traumas over the event perfectly described why this game remains one of the best bullying storylines made in media. I have a personal beef with how bullying is handled in movies and other media. It's always shown as a "black and white" thing or just tropes being inserted to make a story work, never as an actual issue that causes harm to it victims. Since I was young, I hated those anti-bullying TV spots or movies because they clearly showed me that whoever made them had never been a victim of bullying and NEVER understood my real struggles. They were clearly adults trying to guess how children act, while Rule of Rose did the opposite. The game creators talked with children and even involved professionals to accurately handle the world building and I'm happy they did so. But not only that, the game was also aware of how adults themselves CAN BE someone's first bully and how much it hurts to see them taking the side of whoever hurts you rather than helping those in need. This game truly was ahead of its time in trying to show something but it was too early for it, as many misunderstood its message and dismissed it. Sometimes i call myself ugly and people say to me "how could you say that? You are pretty!" or "you say that as a pick me uh? Ahah", never understanding i have extremely personal issues on myself because of what bullyism did to me in all these years. Even after all these years, sometimes it still hurts you know? And because of it, for years I became the worst version of myself. I'm still growing from all of this, honestly... I'm glad stories like Rule of Rose exist because it is a giant slap in the face of reality regarding this topic.
