Please excuse these ugly pics but I am proud of how far my skin has come! I find myself still hating how discolored and acne prone my skin is now but then I have photos to look at (just from months before) and I realize I’ve made such progress.

For those of you interested in my acne progress, here's a little update video! ✨ I discuss my journey with 1 year on Spironolactone, starting birth control for acne, and my current skincare routine!
Skin update from today!!! (6/5/18) and comparison pics from May last year although I'm making progress, it's pretty slow progress, and can be discouraging Sometimes I feel like I'll never get the scarring to go away:/ I have an appointment with a dermatologist this Friday though, so hopefully they can speed up my progress

Saltwater Acne Treatment: Day 1
So after freaking out about my skin the other day, I decided to take to the internet to see if there were any natural acne fighting methods I could try. Most of what I found were treatments that I had tried in the past to no avail; however, one intriguing option did appear- saltwater.
Now I know that sounds a bit out there, but stick with me folks. When you were a little kid still going on family trips to the beach, do you remember the effect the water had on any cuts or ailments you might have procured prior to jumping into that glorious salty oasis? It healed them. Maybe not instantaneously, but far faster than had you used other over the counter methods. I am hoping the same can be said for acne.
After treating my skin with this method last night and this morning, I can already say that there are noticeable improvements. The redness of my skin has been reduced as has inflammation. Another surprising and altogether unexpected benefit seems to be that this method has a pore minimizing effect. I don’t know if I am dreaming this up or if it is actually a result of spraying my skin with saltwater, but I won’t question it too much. Smaller pores are always a blessing when they decide to appear....or disappear. Hah I’m so punny, guys. Seriously, someone needs to take me out. I’m too ridiculous for this world.
I love love love waking up with a non-oily face. For YEARS I have woken up in hot or cold weather feeling like someone slathered butter on my face during the night. And then even after washing, my face would be shiny at least by hour 3 of my day, and I would have to go to the bathroom and use tissue paper to blot my t-zone. Even if Accutane is making me a little flaky, I’m loving the fact that I feel cleaner already. I’ve got a few more blemishes than I had the other day, but I still don’t think it’s my IB. The blackheads that are surfacing still aren’t noticeable unless you’re an inch away from my face.
I’m even going to go to the store without any makeup today! I really never, ever do that. So I’m still feeling pretty positive thus far. 🙂
I forgot to post a photo update yesterday so I’m doing it today. I know that I’m a little more broken out than last week, but I think it’s too early for this to be the start of my IB. From what I’ve read most people get theirs more around the end of month one. Either way I managed not to think about my acne too much at work today. Even when I thought a customer was staring at a few of my blemishes (this is my most common paranoid thought), I just turned my cheek to face them even more. Forcing myself to face my fears is probably good for me. Also I look really shiny in these because I had just showered and washed my face, hence the leftover mascara around my eyes lol.
Also, today my face was less dry because I scratched at work and didn’t see any dead skin helicopter around me lol. However, my lips feel a lot more tight and for some reason they look bigger??? I don’t think that’s my imagination either. Anyway I guess that’s it for now.
04082016 - Hello everyone!
Sorry for being absent for a couple weeks, real life stuff happened, so I didn’t have time to update.
But I has a pimple on my cheek right now! :B It’s not a huge one, but it’s still annoying. I haven’t been developing many pimples lately, which is great for me, but when my sister visited, she had acne patches and I unfortunately couldn’t use them because I didn’t have a pimple on my face(at the time). :( I know, so annoying! haha, I love that this situation is even possible, because this time last year, I was far from being acne free. This was a dream last year.
Overall though, my face has been fine. It’s staying hydrated, even with this long winter. (Seriously, it’s April, and it just snowed another 4 inches last night.) I will do an updated skincare routine soon.
My sister and I also exchanged face masks recently, because she has some obscure brands that I don’t have and I have some that she doesn’t have. I will have that post up some time next week.
Have a great weekend everyone! :D
